Hi all, Unfortunately, stupidly, I took out a loan with United Cash Loans. The loan was for $650, and I have paid them $120 over that amount. I live in Illinois, where I have since found out they are operating illegally. Thanks to the sound, sage advice I found in these forums, I have worked with my bank to close and open another (unlinked) account, have sent letters to UCL, and have filed the appropriate letters of complaint. Other than a couple of calls from the "collection agency" in which they said they were going to mark me as "unwilling to pay," I have heard nothing back from UCL.

I am from Minnesota have 1 store front pay day loan that is licensed in Minnesota. I have had it for over 3 years paying $35.00 twice a month on a $500 loan at Ace Cash Express. How do I get out of it. I pay the $35.00 for each extension, I am allowed 5 extensions then I have to pay off and retake it out. This is not an internet loan but one I walked into the store and took out. I know the laws changed in Minnesota so I think one they are violating the amount you can loan and the extending part. Other then that I have no clue how to get out of this whole.

These people have called my cell phone twice, my house 3 times and so far, my mom's work 1 time all in about an hour. what can I do to make them stop. They garnished my wages without my notice of a judgement or garnishment. I got the paperwork from my employer after the garnishment started. Its from a debt from 1999 and I can't find an attorney in the area that will help me. Any clues as to what I should do? They are crooks and liars and thieves. They called my parents house and told them I was going to be arrested if I didn't contact them.

when i checked my emails today after work i had two from star cash processing. the headliner had my attention as it said that i had a limited opportunity to settle my dept for less then what it supposedly is. the only reason i opened it is because i do have an an unpaid bill from long ago. The other email had their link for there " login into your account" web page. i put the account number that they gave me in the first email, clicked submit. There site tells me that the account number is incorrect. and i forgot how exactly,probaly for being suspicious, i ended up on THIS wonderful website.

Hello All, wit help from this forum, settled with Chase at 25% and Cap1 for 50%. Payoing both this week. Unfortuantley Citi has sent my account to the law offices of Burtin Neil and Assoc. Letter states: This office has been retained to collect the sum of $$$ which our client alledges is owed by you. Please direct full payment to this office. Unless you notify this office withoin 30 days after receiving this notice that you dispute the validity of the debt or any portion thereof, this office will assume this debt is valid.

I just need to know how I find out if the payday loans I took out are legal in my state of NH. How do I find out specifically for each loan??

I need some help on what to do next, I already stopped further withdrawals from my bank. I am stuck on the C&D letter; not sure what to use and if emailing is the best way to send it. Also in order to get a refund back, how do I go about it... Sorry, but i very frustrated, Help is appreciated, ER

About 2 weeks I received a letter from afni saying I owed for a past phone bill. I haven't had a phone in over 12 years. I called them and said to send a validation for a bill they claim is from 1999. So, a few days a got a letter from afni that included the "original statement" (hardly) from the original creditor. The "statement" says the bill date is from May 08, 2002 (I was not even in my state in 2002) and can prove it. It also says that current charges is a $20.94 CREDIT.

Greetings all: So I get a call on my cell phone from this collection agent asking me for my address and the last 4 digits of my SS#. At first I didn't know what it was all about so I confirmed my address, big mistake. Then he wanted to know the last four digits of my SS#. I grew suspicious and when I refused to give those digits to him. I asked him to identify himself, his response was that he is someone who is trying to prevent people from getting sued. I simply hang up. A few days later I received a letter from him.

I currently have some credit card bills, yet I will use this one as an example from Citicards. At this time, the account is in debt for $6,486.16 It is also 65 days past due right now. I am not going to be able to pay this amount back, even with the minimum payments. I do have a full time job, yet it is because of all the other financial difficulties that I have gotten myself into.
