I had some issues a little over 7 years ago. Most of the debts have come off my credit report. One of the accounts the original debt is off my credit report but it shows up under collection agencies with dates opened a couple years later so they are remaining on my report. One of these I even went to court on it and they dismissed it based on being beyond the SOL. What do I need to do to get these collection agencies removed since the original debt is over 7 years old. To anyone who can help: I received a summons to appear in civil court here in Queens County NY from A. A LLC Here in NYC the SOL is six years for a consumer credit transaction and for a store credit card its 4 years. My credit is already pretty wrecked so I'm really not all that concerned about that. I am concerned about this company being able to make any liens against my bank account and garnishing my wages. I have to prepare a response to submit to the clerk of the court in the next few days. Any help that anyone can give in assisting when be greatly appreciated.

Help! I have a tax adviser working with the IDR, Indiana Dept of Revenue, for back taxes. However, today they levied everything out of my checking account. My tax guy has to get a copy of the levy order but he said if it is from an outside collection agency they won't recognize his intervention. What do I do? My rent will bounce tomorrow and all my bills are due. I have no money and nowhere to get any. How do I deal with tese guys? DHL:(

I am not sure if anyone can help me, I defaulted on two pay day loans in 2009. I was in a payday nightmare that still continues in 2012! The payday loan companies sold my account to a collection agency by the name of capital accounts. They are reporting to the credit bureaus with four different account numbers. I have disputed them but the credit reports have responded that they have been found to be accurate. What can I do? I live in NJ and since they are illegal I thought they couldn't do this. Please help!

I am a co-signer (I know...I know) on a private student loan for my son. He is unable to pay the loan. I was laid off from my job of 25 years in 2009. I have not been able to find a job in my field since (I'm 62...does that give you a clue?). I received a letter from Allied Interstate, a collection company, stating that Sallie Mae has offered to release me as the co-signer for a sum of $13,272. They state the balance of the loan at $33,181, on an original amount of $20K.

I got a message from a Brian Lockhart of All State Litigation saying he was a process server and he was serving me a summons with the sheriff at my job. He said it was about bad checks. I could hear all the other "process servers" in the background calling people. Are they kidding? I moved out ot the state and work from home so I think he will have a tough time with that one. Obviously a big scam. My question is; has anyone else gotten a call?. My reason for this thread is for anyone who does get a call to know enough to ignore this low life slime weasel or any of his friends. .

I could use your help on another PDL collection issue I'm having. I'm slowly working my way out of the PDL cycle that arose from some urgent medical bills. I fell behind in everything. I took out a PDL with Advance America, which is legal in Florida. No issues there. I paid half of it, leaving a balance of about $220. Again, this $220 balance is legit and I intend on paying it. Unfortunately, while I was going back and forth with AA trying to work out terms, I was sent off to collections.

Well here I am two and a half years later and thanks to your forum, I have survived my horrible payday loan situation. No, I didn't go to jail, I wasn't served a summons and I didn't have any of my wages garnished...all of which were threats. I'd like to say thank you to everyone here for their advice and help. I am not sure my nerves could have survived without your help. Now I am working on getting another chapter of my life in order. My credit card debt.

For over a week now I have had a "process server" calling anyone they can to get information about me. Friends, family, landlords, landlords family, etc. People I do not even know are receiving calls asking to verify my address. They have left a phone number, a case #, and have told various stories from they have papers to serve me, a subpoena, legal documents, etc. When I called the phone number, they immediately asked for my SSN. I did not give it to them, but they verified the last 4 # of my social and I did confirm it, along with confirming my DOB.

I have a loan outstanding from St.Armands group. I got a call today from National Lawyers saying there are two summons that will go out today if I don't reach a settlement One for breach of contract and another for a bounced check. The person also told me I would have to pay all court cost if I don't settle. I live in Illinois and got the loan online I just want to make sure I have all my facts right before I negotiate
