I am writing this on behalf of my mother. She received a letter dated Sept. 28, 2011 from Northland Group Inc. stating she owes $2148.79 for a Capital One credit card. The collection letter also has the current credit as LVNV Funding LLC with the previous creditor as Capital One. The name listed for my mother is also the wrong name but somewhat similar: first name is wrong and last name is correct. I sent a validation letter for her requesting additional information as we live in the state of Texas. I have read the collection laws for Texas. She receives a letter today dated Oct.

It is apparent that I have not been here much recently. I stop in occasionally and answer a question here and there and delete a few spams but that is about it. It has been a few years, although it seems like a few weeks, since I lost my job after some serious health issues. I was forced to do something else as the economy and my age were too much for me too overcome in the field I was in. Experience counts for s--- today. I thought Debtors' prison was outlawed years ago. However, I heard on the news about a guy in MO (I think) who had bought some furniture and fell behind on the payments. After dealing with a collection agency and not being able to keep up with the payments, a judgment was obtained against him. Apparently, there was some kind of hearing held to determine his financial ability to pay but he did not show up. He was eventually arrested and put in jail for not paying the debt. This scares me to death.

I just received a call from Mr. Green (Recovery Department) Advance Me Today, 888-408-9716. And stated the following: He will file a complaint against with the Federal Trade Commission, and will call my employer’s IT department, and report my activities as fraudulent! Based upon the fact, that my employer IP’s address is health system!

I have emailed letters to both LSO & Zip 19 on October 25, 2011. I have had no response, only an email stating that payment is due on October 31, 2011. What should I do at this point?

A family member just received a call saying that I am being investigated for check fraud. First of all, I don't write checks for anything but paying my rent so I know that is a lie. Second, I would NEVER write bad checks! Most of my family is in banking and I have accounts with their banks so that definitely would not look good. I had the family member call the number back and it said it was for District Restitution Services. I have tried to search for more information on this company to no avail. Does anyone have any information or has anyone even heard of this company?

First of its kind of refreshing to see that I was not the only one who went through hard times and made the mistake of getting involved with pay day loans. I plan to pay the ones I owe BUT a company called Mass Street Group gave me a payday loan without speaking to me and without me signing it and when they did that a company (Loan Shop Online) who did not have access to my new bank account took the money that I owed them. I do not think that either of these companies are licensed in Alabama...HELP PLEASE!!!

how can I find out if the companies I used over the internet are legal in Wisconsin. I have four loans. Cashtransfercenters.com, bottomdollar.com, yourfastpayday.com and some st. armands services that actually deposited a loan without me even signing or agreeing to it. Now I am stuck paying it. I can't keep up and I am wondering if i have any actions? Please help me :confused:
