First things first, i have been fighting a creidtor named Vericrest Financial since 2009. They're currently reporting to experian and transunion with the account being in KD status, whatever in the hell that means. I have no idea as to who these people are or where they came from. They show on my reports as an auto loan but then i've received 2 charge off 1099 statements from them for a mortgage loan but then they sent me corrected 1099's. I dont know who these people are or how they got my name and address but this account is not mine.

First off, I received the standard notice that debt collectors use when they initially advise someone that they owe a debt. I responded back with a certified letter, asking them for verification of the debt. They basically sent me a letter advising that the debt was real, and it was signed by someone in the office. A few months later, they send me a packet containing copies of credit card statements. Today I received a letter left behind by a process server advising me that he had attempted to deliver legal documents to me.

My wife and I are in tremendous debt, all of which is my fault. Bottom line, I'm looking to find out what my options are. We live in NJ and each of us have credit cards in our names individually. If things start to get slippery with regards to making payments, will my wife's credit be affected if I stop paying any bills in my name in order to keep hers current? Also, we do have a mortgage that has both of our names. How will this be affected? Her credit score vs. mine? What is the overall impact of letting my stuff go in order for her to survive financially? Thanks for any feedback!

I have accounts (credit card, medical) that show on my credit card as collections but no one is calling me about them, sending any correspondence. Some have been a few years. Some have dates on them that they will fall off report. My questions is on the ones that have a little while to go before falling off, and I have not heard from them, what should I do. I am trying to clean up my credit as much as possible. Although I have a long way to go, what do I do about those type of accounts? If statute has expired on some of them, how do I get them removed?
