I have a question. How can a company collect a debt that they filed as a loss on their taxes. If they claim a loss then Uncle Sam cuts them a tax break. Which means to me that they cannot come after the same debt they filed as a loss right?

I have recently paid Frederick J. Hanna 245.00 a month for the past 4 months. They call me right about tax return time and told me they would sue me if I did not pay them. They said they were representing Chase. I had just had a FUrnace go out and had spent my return on replacing thatso they set up a payment plan for the money. The payment plan expired and they called to set up another one or get 3000 total from me. Are these guys even paying the debt or stealing the money? I just read all of the posts and now am petrified that I have just paid a bunch of money to theives..

I recently obtained a car title loan in the state of Texas. I made my first payment, but it's not looking to good for me making a second as I have recently had my hours cut at work. I am thinking I may have a way out of this loan but was looking for a little help. My car is registered out of state, and while looking for a title loan, nobody would give me one unless I registered my car in Texas. I finally found one that would, because they said they would send it to my state to get them placed as lien holders. The state told them no, because they were operating out of Texas.

So yes, I screwed up and defaulted on my loans. They are large. I've attempted in the past to pay what I could but I was told it would be pointless from the CA and they didnt budge so I didn't pay anything. I owe about 70K on my gov loans and I am told by the CA the min needed is $500+. That's impossible right now. I am married and he also has large student loans but is currently in school now. I am not working regularly and at most bring home less than $700 a month. With hubby working we are barely making it. I will probably need his income when calculating my payments.
