I received a letter from RJM Acquisitions stating they had purchased an overdrawn Wachovia checking acct with a balance due of $753.00. They offer 3 options to settle this account. However, the account number they provide does not match the account number I had when I banked with Wachovia. Also, strangely, they give my college undergrad address as the previous address, which was last used in my graduation year of 1999. Should I take this seriously? jbs

Does a collection agency have to inform you before freezing your bank account?

Sent us a summons without definite verification of our alleged debt. This would not be the first lawsuit I have filed against a debt collector and won, MJ Hecker and Assoiciates was the last and he is out of buisness with a multi year suspention of his licence to practice law, cach may be the second this year.

I've seen a lot of people mention they've used specific phone numbers for certain creditors to get good settlement deals. I'm just wondering, how do people find out about those numbers in the first place? I guess what I really want to know is, do the reps at those numbers ever wonder how you got the number? If they question it, what do you say? I just don't think it would be a good idea to say I got the number from reading a forum about how to settle debts. ;) So I figure I should have a good answer in case I get asked.
