I live in New Jersey, though my corporate office is in Illinois (not sure where wage laws apply) Anyway, I was reading through some laws because I have been getting threatening calls from PDL companies and collection agencies. These relate to PDLs that are several years old and all beyond paid off. Anyway, it seems I read that creditors can petition the court for a garnishment without me ever knowing...is this true? What can I do to prevent this?

We are 6 years post BK and did not reaffirm on our mortgage, still live in the home, and have made all the scheduled payments. We now want to sell the home to a family member with a possible rent to own contract. Will it be possible to buy another home and just have them make the payments on our existing home? We have equity in our home and do not want to lose that but I also realize that if they/we do not make the scheduled payments, the home can be foreclosed on. The family member will be giving us our equity in the contract agreement.

My husband and I like so many got caught up in the payday loan scenario / scammers and tried to pay them off as promised but alas he got laid off and has been out of work for over a year. We get calls all times of the day and night, tried to get help with paydayloan help and turned out they were a scam and ripped us off over 900 bucks!

Hi Expert; I live in Texas and am being sued for not unpaid credit card bal, and legal paper also say's " a judgement MAY be taken against you". What exactly does that mean? :rolleyes:

Midland Funding LLC has a class action lawsuit against them. How can my husband and I get on this. They never notified us to appear in court to defend ourselves. They garnished my husbands paycheck three times and we had no chance to make arrangements to pay this off or any other option. Please help!
