[COLOR=black]I have a signature loan with Sallie Mae that I took out back in 2003. Last Nov Sallie Mae informed me that the loan could no longer be deferred while I was attending school because there was a limit to the amount of time these loans could be deferred. I repeatedly asked for them to send me the document I singed stating there was a limit to the amount of time the loan could be deferred, they sent me the promissory note, which states nothing of the sort.

Hey SoapLady, I am just looking for some helpful advice. I am currently in a secure job making enough where I would be living much more comfortably if I could save a few hundred bucks a month on payments. I have never missed a payment but I think it would greatly help me if I could consolidate my credit cards into one lower monthly payment. I currently have about $18000 in debt across three credit cards. I would really like to pay no more than $500 a month for these debts. Is that possible? What direction should I take? In December I sent a debt validation latter via certified mail to Fredrick Hanna & Associates. And never heard from them. They stopped all communication as soon as they received my letter. So from what I learned they can NOT pursue me anymore and that I should dispute this with the credit bureaus? But I also read elsewhere that a collection agency can sell the debt to another agency, and then still owe the debt. :confused:

Today at work I recieved a phone call from a collection agency for a credit card that I stopped paying because my husbend lost his job. They said I would be served a summons at work. Can they serve me at work

Hi I'm 24 yrs old and have become overwhelmingly in debt at a young age. it's now to the point where I wrk 115 hrs a wk just to make mins on everything. I can live a normal life and am always stressed. I'm scared. I have roughly $18500 in credit card debt and 8500 left on myauto loan. I just finally missed my first payments ever on 2 cards. I feel helpless, suggestions?

i received a message on my answering machine that i didn't understand about my bank account and something returned i do have a bank account and there were a couple of unauthorized charges on my debit card that i did not make or authorize at all i went to my bank and filled out a form and they were going to investigate and send me a new debit card this has happened with a bank account i use to have i need to know if this is a scam or what and put a stop to it immediately i will seek legal help if needed thank you

Hi, I have an honest question... I have student loans totaling $68,000. I have already defferred them, and have been in default with them. I just recently started earning good income, and I am able to make payments now. I have set up a payment plan with Ms Mae. Upon setting this plan up, one of the reps advised that I should look into getting a personal loan of $40,000 and if I did, i would be able to pay off the settlement amount of $38,000... It sounds too good to be true!

I was stabbed last year and I have two collections from the medical bills on my report showing as "Paid". These were both handled by the State of Utah's Victims Reparation office and the original creditor was paid in full - it should never have gone to collections. Both the original creditor and the collection agencies were informed of the approved case number for Victims reparation. Even though they are showing paid these are hurting my already low score. How can I get them removed?

Hi, I am in a very bad situation and in need of some serious advice. I am a sophomore in college. After completing my fall semester I was unable to my tuition ($4500). Because of this it was forwarded to an outside credit agency. After discussing the matter with them I found out that I have until April 15th to either pay off the debt or settle on a repayment plan with. I really want to be able to enroll for school but won't be able to until the debt is settled. If I make a repayment plan it will last about 8 months, January of 2012, to fully pay the debt off.
