Being sued and want to settle debt.

14 years 10 months ago
I'm being sued by PATENAUDE & FELIX on behalf of Target credit card. I have a court date on April 28th. I have called them up many times asking how we can settle this and not have to go to court. Each time I'm told something different. Well that last 2 times I called he said they would settle for $1,475 if I paid up front. I only owe $1,500 and they tacked on fee's making the amount almost $3,000. I told him I only had $1,200 to pay. And that was borrowing money to pay them. He said that he would take that now and then I would have to have the other amount to them by the end of the month.

I see many posts that are similar to what I'm deal

I see many posts that are similar to what I'm dealing with but can't seem to compile all the right information to my specific situation. I took out a loan with loanpointusa almost two years ago. I believe the original amount was $700. I am in the state of Texas. A signicant amount of this loan was paid back but I do not have the specifics as my checking account at the time has long since been closed, due to issues from the pdl. That being said, I have a letter from Farrell Law Group (who I've learned work hand in hand with loanpoint) demanding $3,120.

I previously had a lease with two roommates, about four years ago. I filed bankruptcy in October 2009. We owe approximately $2000 in damages at the apartment we shared, but I wrote these charges off in my bankruptcy. I was contacted by one of the former roommates, saying that she is being harrassed by a collections agency. What should I do? I know that by filing, I have no legal obligation to this matter. I live paycheck to paycheck now, but have no debt. Is it morally correct for me to help her with this debt?

Scared and don't know what to do!!!

This past Dec. I got a loan with WESTERN SKY FINANCIAL, the same day that I was approved for my loan they sold my load to CashCall. I've recently had surgery and am off work for 3-6 mos. if not longer. At this time I have NO money coming in and i'm unable to make payments. I called them as soon as I knew I was going to have surgery and explained to them what was going on to see if I could make some different payment arrangements. They told me there was nothing they could do to help me because I had only made one full payment at that time.

wondering how to get out of this

14 years 10 months ago
Hello, My husband had a bank acct. many years ago and he had trouble with a company with a reoccurring charge. He asked the company to stop charging him and they wouldn't so he asked his bank to block payments to them. The payments still came through. So he closed the acct. with the bank and told the bank not to pay those people again. A month later they charged him again and the bank payed it even though he had closed the acct. and expressly ordered them not to pay it. He then received overdraft fees close to $200.00. He refused to pay since he told them not to pay those people.

After finding this site, I decided to settle on my cards, and stopped paying. A couple are now past 180 days, and some are still under the 180 day mark. At this point, however, I decided to file chapter 7 instead. This post is just for anyone doing research to see what they can settle for (like I did for many hours). Bank of America-- I had 3 cards (1 business and 2 personal, totalling about 15500). I settled my business card for 30% at 173 days in 4 payments over 93 days. My two other cards still had 60-90 days left, and I only had them to 45% so far.
