Yesterday I received a collection notice from a collection agency. It was addressed to me, but the debt is not mine. What steps do I need to take to correct this?

once a debt with chase is with a colection agency like zwicker is it still possable to deal with chase instead to settle it since zwicker won't budge on the amount.

Hi, I've rcvd repeated calls from a guy name DAN from GC services over the last month.However the individual never identified himself as a rep from GC services - only that he's calling regarding some business matters. Although his caller id is #540-4462912, his messages tell me to call 866--749-7276.When I called, the rep answered "GC services - your calls will be recorded... " when I inquired about what kind of services they have the lady kept beating around the bushes and kept asking me for my number so "she can help me".

First National services is calling my employment threating to send a garnish wage form to my employer and send a supeona to my job if i dont respond to them by friday. I need help, is this legal? they are calling me from 801-505-9964 and leaving a call back number of 800-654-7444 ext 822

I have been in chapter13 for 5months now the plan is a100% payback with a 4.8 % intrest rate for 5 years. However I had to let my house go back to the bank. Will I ever see a good credit rating again?

In 1985, my mother died and my share of the proceeds from the sale of her house came to around $16,000. My ex-wife filed a lien on this inheritance for back child support and also attached a lein, unbeknownst to me, to my home, which I had purchased a year earlier. The back chhild support amounted to around $13,500, a debt which I freely acknowledged and was happy to pay in full. All was well and good, and my ex-wife happened to die five years late of cancer. In 1996 I purchased and moved to another home nearby, and kept the old house as a rental.

I have a 21,000 CC debt with Cap 1. It has recently been charged off. About 2 weeks prior to the charge off I spoke with capital one to attempt to settle and after several hours of discussion they agreed to a 11,500 payoff...I did not have the money at the time so I told them I would work on getting the funds and call them back. I got the funds and called them back but they told me the offer was no good anymore because the account had charged off. Now they are only offering a 15,000 settlement with me paying a lump sum of 10,000 and then $850 a month until the 15,000 is paid.

Are there any that are decent to use without racking up fees? I know I can go to Walmart but they charge fees. I wonder...could I give them my current debit card with the pretense that it's a prepaid card? Or is that too risky? Edited to add that I am paying back legal lenders...not illegal ones. And only one requires payment through prepaid debit card.

Where would be the best place for me to go to get my most accurate credit score? I am currently signed up with truecredit.com, but I've read that myfico has the most accurate score and that is the one that is actually looked at by lenders. Any help will be appreciated.
