My mother died last year. My 75 year old step-father received a letter from Northland Group, Inc. claiming to be collecting from Montgomery Ward and offering to settle a $3500 debt for $500. He phoned Northland today and spoke with a very persistent woman who demanded his birthdate (he refused to give the last 4 of his social) and told him "that is close, but not what I have on file" when he gave it. He told her he believed that my mother and father had that account, and asked if he could only pay half of the $500 they offered to settle for. He married my mother in 1973.

does this company consolidate unsecured only?

I am receiving daily calls from your company--501-470-6920. I understand that this is a collection agency. We have an excellent credit rating and certainly do not have unpaid debts. This is harrassment. I do not know how or why you have my phone number but I am asking you to remove my name from your list. How do I get my name off of your calling list?

If you have already been summoned to court once and stated to pay say 20 a month towards a bill and then default even after they have put a lien on your house, and ordered to court again what happens next.

Are any loan companies allowed to sale the same debt to more than one Collection Agency?

[SIZE=3]Well I???m on the road to getting debt free ???.Paid 3 CC off and have agreements and making payments that I can afford to pay on 9 more???..The question I have is which debt do I start paying next. I have judgment for 4K that has been in place for 2 years and they haven???t garnished wages yet???.I have one credit card that sent proof that???s it???s a valid debt for 4K???and 3 more CC that I haven???t paid anything on in 3 years and owe about 10K on each. I???m thinking the Credit Card that sent proof that it???s valid.

I have noticed recently our screen name has been removed, it use to be under our avatar. This seems to be very confusing to guests and new members. Guests have been referring to me as HOF instead of my screen name. I find this very confusing because I don't know if they are asking me a question or asking someone else,

Has anyone ever dealed with this company before? They were pretty bully-like on the phone, but ultimately said they'd send out a letter. They said they 'know the debt is real because it was with two different CA's' I am not familiar with CashNet nor ERS...has anyone had any experience with them? Are they real? Are they legit?

ETC Needless to say, you have the right to report this debt to the credit reporting agencies as you see fit etc etcI know that having “PAID COLLECTION” status on the credit report would be very detrimental to me. etc etc Etc I will pay your company the amount of $100 as PAYMENT IN FULL for the full satisfaction of this debt. etc etc Basically some thing I got off the internet I received back a typed letter dated jan 2X,2011 stating my name then as per request the amount are listed along with it saying please be advice our client does not take reductions.
