How can I fund my way through college without Pell Grant Funding?

8 years 3 months ago
Hey all, I'm a freshman attending University of Akron. I just learned that the government is planning to cut the Pell Grant Fund by $1.31 billion and is calling for a freeze on the maximum grant for the next 10 years. This would affect me and many of my good friends who otherwise would not be able to fund their way through college. If such legislation goes into place and my funding is cut, what are some other ways I can fund my way through college? Additionally, I found a petition urging representatives to strike down these proposed cuts and freezes.

Miinan Funds (Ladder Credit) & Northern Plains Funding

8 years 3 months ago
I took out 2 PayDay Loans. One with Miinan Funds (Ladder Credit) for $1050 & one with Northern Plains Funding for $500. To date, I have paid Miinan Funds a total of $1905.67 (over paid by $855.67) and Northern Plains a total of $2,332.45 (over paid by $1,832.45). I have closed my bank account and sent the sample letter requesting PIF and a refund of my over-payments to both lenders. Northern Plains responded stating that my loan "is consistent with applicable law" and will be moved into collections.

Will working with National Debt Relief to pay off my credit card debt hurt my personal business credit or account?

8 years 3 months ago
Over the past year, I have allowed my credit card debt to get out of hand. My payments are becoming too much to manage, and I'm exploring options to ease the financial stress. With $27,000 in credit card debt, I am considering using National Debt Relief to negotiate with my creditors and get me out of debt in 24-36 months at a much lower fixed payment. I own my house, all my vehicles, and have no need to take out personal loans in the foreseeable future. I understand that my personal credit will be essentially destroyed and take years to rebuild.
