I have enrolled in a debt settlement program just last month. Can my creditor increase the interest rate if I get out of the debt repayment plan.

I have paid an additional $4000 to an illegal payday loan lender in the last 6 months. The mistake was mine. I fell in their trap. Now, I have stopped making payments inspite of their repeated threats. But, how can I retrieve the money? Please help

A debt settlement company has promised to help me win a lawsuit filed my creditor. They have also told that I can walk away from my debts by paying less than what I owe. Previously, I was planning to consult an attorney. But, now I am relieved. I don't have to deal with anything. Thank you.
