Hi everyone. I had loans with these 2 companies. I recieved an email stating I owed them $0. I recieved a call from a Mr. Hatten saying he is from first national bank representing these companies and that they are taking me to small claims court and the sheriff is going to arrest me. :confused: I need some legal assistance for my next DIY legal step. (I'm not a lawyer, don't have a lot of money, and try to do a lot of things myself.) Hi all Thank you for all the info on this forum! Lots of good stuff here. I recently received a letter from FMS offering to settle on an old (probably 9-10 years) Discover card bill. I have seen it listed as charge-off on a credit report a few years ago, dont know if it had been sold off to a CA at that time. I will try to find that if it is of concern. I sent them a DV letter, they then sent a response that they are no longer persuing collection and are returning it back to the original creditor. All good so far!

my son got into trouble when he was almost eighteen he was given a fine for restitution and i was making monthly payments and was unable to make payments due to husband being in hospital and mother being sick they are garnishing my check for 25% of my income and are not getting a dime from the other kid, can i file bankruptcy for all my debts

I had a judgment (illinois) in 2005 and I pled guilty. I made my payments to a lawyer, but one day he sent my check back with a note saying the account had been closed. I contacted Asset because they were the company that put the judgment on me, although I was paying the lawyer (asset's lawyer). Asset would not send me a balance sheet or bill. They just wanted me to send money to this address. I asked for a letter of proof. I needed to know they were who they were. Nothing became of it. Now years later 2010, I just found out I have an open judgment on my credit report. What should I do?

So, I have a few payday loans in Ohio (I know stupid of me...). They are all being paid and up to date at this time but a BIG drain...and in my searches it seems all of them are in violation of Ohio law.... . I don't want to close my account and hope just revoking their privileges to ACH debit will be enough. The companies and amounts are: CashNetUSA $1000 Payday1 $1000 National Money Store $400 Magnum Cash Advance (I have 3 payments of $267 left) Is there any way I can use this to my advantage?
