I got settlement offers for 7 cards from 3 companies at 20% after 120 days. Now the question is - all 3 companies are going to send me 1099-C for about $65k. How to deal with this? I can't afford to pay taxes on 65k. I own a house and it is going to be foreclosed very soon. Please advise.

I started out with 4 pdl's now I have 2 PIF and two left to deal with. I did receive an email from Lakota, and now I think they have sent me to collections. I get calls from a FBCS. I also have Starcash but I have not heard anything from them unless this collection call is from them. Have any of you dealt with FBCS? I need to know what to do next.

I had (or attempted) to have a phone conversation with someone in their office today - it was like being on one of those 60 Minutes exposes that they did on agencies like this one. This is nothing but a strong-arm tactic to put fear in you - and they will not give you an address to send a payment - what they will do is tell you that the only way to clear your account is to give them your debit/credit card info and they will process it on the date given. You cannot speak to me in a proper manner, why would I give you my personal info?
