If I was the signer on a corporate check that bounced and then the corporation closed can I be held responsible for the debt

I thought with all the help this forum has so kindly provided me, that I would try my best to provide what information I can to existing and future readers of this forum. I feel the best way to do this is to document my experiences with each company as I hear from them. PayDay Island... I have had several loans from them starting in 2007. To date, I have paid them nearly $3000 in fees. My goal is to get a Paid in Full letter and a refund. Two days ago (Oct. 6 2010) I closed out my bank account.

I live in Alabama and I have a payday loan with Approved Cash Advance. I have been a customer here for 3 years off and on. The people have always been very friendly, respectful and helpful and I have had to pay off a loan in payments before,there and 2 other places to be exact. I always say "never again" but in this economy who doesn't need help and I am on a single income. So they have this new manager, a young girl who has NO expertise in customer service. She is rude, confrontational, hostile, difficult and thinks she yields some kind of power.
