Settled with BofA for $12k on $47500 in debt over 4 payments. Load was lifted off my chest today. However I still have Chase, Discover, and Amex to work out. Chase is still giving me a hard time. They tell me I am in pre-litigation dept and no settlement is available. They tell me I don't qualify for a settlement. However they extended my pre-lit stay in their dept for another 15 days. They don't call very often, maybe twice per week. Hoping they reconsider and settle for 25-30% on $25k balance. Discover is still trying a hardship program...boohoo.

I owe Capital One about $15k. My husband lost his job 6 months ago and just started working again and is making half of what he used to make. I have been trying to get Capital One to work with me but they will not. I have been turned over to a Collection Agency in Toronto Canada. Has anyone been able to negotiate with Capital One or their Collection Agency? Do they automatically sue you??? I have had other Credit Card Companies work with me on my payments.

I've been behind on my student loans for several months with Chase. I called today to schedule a payment and catch up on my past due amount. The account manager for my loan (I was transferred twice) say it charged off on August 31. She wants me to settle my total debt in the next 48 hours (it's about 65,000). She says get someone I know to take it from their 401k or get a loan. I told her I could pay 600 dollars now and 300 dollars a week until I caught up and she said it was a no go (I'm probably about 2,800 dollars behind in payments). I just want to get back to making regular payments.

I am behind on my private student loan payments and I do not know how to going about making arrangements to catch the loan up. I tried to talk to one of the representatives, but I think I made things worse. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to approach this????

I have recently begun receiving irritating phone calls from CBE. During my FIFTH call with yet another rude and unprofessional bill collector, I asked her politely for something in writing. She wanted to verify my SSN. I promptly told her "NO CHANCE. I don't know you; I DON'T trust you, and, as I pay ALL of my debts and have almost perfect credit, I have NO clue what you're talking about." I asked her to send me something in writing, but she refused. What can I do to get them to stop calling here? TRULY, I don't have a CLUE as to what she needs from me.

I've been off and on the phone with these guys and spoke with an attorney. I have asked these guys to fax me documentation on a loan they say I took out through the internet! I have never done anything like that. This has been going on for a year and I have still yet to see one peice of documentation that even says I did such a thing. I am currently trying to get in touch with check n go to see if they even have my information on file! I am not paying one cent.

Well I have started to eliminate some of the many PDL's I have thanks to this Forum and its amazing members! I haven't been able to open an Bank account due to Wells Fargo putting me on chexsystems because of a charge-off on a checking account I had when I had the PDL's hitting it hard. Oh well it got closed and currently owe $2,049.47. !! well I thought they wouldn't work with me after all this mess but guess what?
