I live in the State of Florida and I received in the US mail today a notice of appearnce as cousel. What is it, the stamp date was a week ago to my old address. The address on the letter is wrong. I owe Captial One Credit Card $2200 back four years ago.

I have a school bill that is at a debt collections office. They refuse to take payments unless I pay $700 first. I don't have that kind of money. I was thinking of working with a debt consolidation firm to help me? Would that work? How do I go about finding a good place?

I lost income and have been paying all but 1 line of credit, they now say they wont change anything because a 60 month payment plan has the same monthly payment that I need to make anyway, They suggested that I try credit counsling and see if I can lower other credit card interest rates and use the money saved to pay them. I have 2 homes in another state , but no equity (both rented but income does not cover mortgages so my wife and I are making that up. all bills are in my name only and she is worried they may try and get money from her Live in Florida now

I received a settlement offer from GC on August 5, offering a $1,670 savings on my overdue AMEX bill. I called AMEX who denied any association with them on August 8. When I called GC today Aug 18, 2 separate calls confirmed my fears that they are AMEX 's scam. GC (AMEX) said my account was turned over to AMEX for non payment.Yea.

I just received notice of a defaulted student loan and spoke with the collection agency. The total principal and interest is 14,000. Then there's the collection fees. I was told I could settle with a partial (2,500) reduction in fees or go into a federal rehab program for 250/month. I didn't even know you could negotiate. What is the best option?
