How do I get out of debt without hurting my credit score?

I'm am currently being sued by Zwicker & Assoc behalf of Amex already filed by answer so they don't get me for default judment. However, the credit card and law suite is in my name only cuz when i applied i applied by myself. However, lost my job and now my husband supports me. The quesiton i have is could they touch his income or garnish his wages when he name is not mentioned. Only me. Thanks, sandy

I rec'd an disturbing phone call on yesterday from a law ofc located in NY--he immediately started threatening me, sayin I will be charged with 3 counts of fraud and I was going to jail along with my references, I do not recall having a loan with Advanced America, and when asked for proof, I was told they did not have to show me proof!! He told me they didn't want my money they wanted to sue for more money-said I recd $400, and tghat they were suing me for $5000--this scared me, what are my rights. I live in NC--they said I better get a lawyer!!!

Is anyone in this debt settlement program? and if so how is it working out for you? What are they doing for you that you could not do your self? Thanks, Sandy

Who is calling me from 888-364-1056? Someone has called me from this phone number 7 times within an hour and i can't seem to find out who it is that keeps calling and leave no message either. Would appreciate some help with this! Thanks, Sandy

Hey all, currently I have a a 575 credit score. I have had credit cards in the past 2005 - 2006. When I had these cards I was only 18, and didnt have a sense of money management. I didnt pay any of the cards back, and till this day I still havent paid anything back. Today I am trying to get things right with my finances. I have been doing alot of research and I have read paying these debts today could actually hurt my credit score and lower it significantly even though it is already low. Than I have read about the "Statute of Limitations" for my state.

For consumers who are wary of the debt settlement industries, but not debt settlement itself, a diy settlement is an option. Question is, which do you think would give the consumer a better result (in terms of settlement percentage)? Share your thoughts!

For credit card debt in Alabama FOLEY - is it 3 years or 6 years? I've looked at the charts and actually saw it listed both ways. :confused:
