Hi all. When I was a senior in college (2003) I took out two small private loans with my university in Ohio. I defaulted on the first (in 2004) and don't ever remember receiving any letters on the second to repay. The college sent my loans to their default collection agency, Meade and Associates in Columbus, OH. I then moved to Arizona during this time (don't know if this matters for statue of limitations). After paying off another debt I had with them (unpaid tuition-which is paid in full) they wanted to obviously collect on the defaulted loans.

I am trying to get written proof that I owe the debt that Asset Acceptance is trying to charge me but they refuse to send me any written proof of ANYTHING..what can I do?

Like others my debt is a credit card debt that I fell behind on and ended up not being able to pay, now seven years later Sessoms and Rogers has put a lein on my house, until they are paid. I found this out by when I went to refinance my house this year.

OK, I am having similar problems intermittently with the forum as others have mentioned. Looking in the Debt Consolidation, settlement and management forum, I find two threads with the titles in cyrillic-looking writing. They still show in the forum as 'moderated', meaning that they need to be moderated. When I put my cursor on the thread title to get a preview of the thread's content, they both say PORN with links to pictures. I go to click on the thread to delete it, and a message pops up "error 404, page not found".

Hello, As a result of my divorce almost 3 years ago, I ended up with 2 accounts going to collection. One, for a credit card debt, ended up being charged off back in January '09, and we settled for something like 66%. The other was a cell phone debt, and I was unable to to deal with that until Dec '09/Jan '10. I knew it was a debt I owed, however, as I'd bounced around between a few addresses while getting back on my feet post-divorce, the bills/CA letters never reached me.

I have a contract all set up and ready to go for debt settlement, however I just stayed up all night reading the attorney agreements and they, after all is said and done are pretty much telling you that if all is not settled in a timely fashion they will help you advise you but WILL NOT REPRESENT YOU with bankrupsty proceedings. I guess I'd be paying double the fees. HELP! It is with Bay View Law Group and debt settlement group New Beginnings. HELP HELP HELP

I entered a debt settlement a couple months back that allows for 4 payments, each increasing incrementally. I am having trouble making the full 3rd payment. Does anyone know what will happen if I only make a partial payment? The settlement terms letter indicated any inability to make a payment would result in BoA rescinding the settlement and going after the entire amount. Does anyone have any experience in this area? Will BoA work with me if I split the 3rd month payment in two, making one on the due date and the other half within 10 days of the first?
