I live in NY and I'm going to be filing for bankruptcy with the next few months. Can I see some of my assets to help pay for attorney fees?

Is a copy of an old bill from my original creditor considered proof that the collection agency is the legal holder of my debt? I sent a letter requesting that the collection agency send debt validation documents and they only sent back a copy of a 2008 bill from the original bank that I owed.

Hi I know I was on this forum several years ago and you guys posted a sample form letter for me to use to work out a payment plan and stop the payday lender from ACHing my account. Unfortunately now I find myself needing to work out a payment plan with 2 payday lenders One is Check N Go (TX) online total owed is $1087 (have refinanced three times took out loan for $800) The other one is Ace Cash Express online (TX) $1085 owed the loan taken out was around $825. i have been borrowing against my home equity line of credit each month to pay credit card debts. realizing this is a bad situation, i'm choosing to try and settle with my credit card companies. i have only missed one payment so far and am wondering if i should contact them immediately and ask to settle or wait some months out?

Just an update because I don't have a progress thread: I received a settlement offer on my final card yesterday. It is a regional bank mc with a $24k balance and an offer to settle of $9400. I probably will take it bc they may sue me in collections after chargeoff. My tally to date is roughly $170,000 and I settled for around $50k so roughly 30% on average. I will have $120k in 1099 but now am technically insolvent so taxes should be no problem. Still remaining: Home in foreclosure for many months but not foreclosed... My first should be wiped out.

My credit cars were closed by the bank. Its better to do a settlement for those accts or make payments arragment until balance is paid off

i just checked my credit and gc services has been reporting against my credit every month for awhile now. i didn't know. they never even contacted me once. what do i do? i don't want them to have my address or phone number if they don't already. but i want to find out what the debt is.

I did a few settlements over the last 2 weeks and am wondering when they will show up on the credit report as paid, a few of them show up as balance $0 but some are still showing the original balances. I am going to call these collection agencies to get my confirmation receipt that they said i should be getting this next week. I know these are the correct agencies that i was dealing with because i contacted my original creditor and they directed me to these agencies and then the CA gave me the settlement agreements with my account numbers and balances.
