(Sorry for the long post. Just trying to give the entire picture.) :confused: My girlfriend has been out of work several months. I was out of work several months and then severely underemployed another 6 months. However, with the help of family I have been able to negotiate at 20% settlement with BofA (owed about 45k) and 40% with Citi (owed about 13k).

Just wanted to spread a ray of hope to those who continue to drown in private student loan debt. A new bill being drawn up by Congress may finally provide much needed relief to those mired with these highly toxic private student loans: http://durbin.senate.gov/showRelease.cfm?releaseId=323908 This is long overdue and would be a godsend to those who continue to suffer with these loans which are basically "pay or default loans".

Over the past 3 years, I have dealt with over 20 different payday loan companies with as many as up to 9 out at the same time. I have paid thousands of dollars in high-interst fees. The continous cycle of automatic debits was very stressful as I have litteraly not had access to my paycheck during this period. A part-time job and friends help at times was the only way I could surive and support some living expenses. As of yesterday, I made my final payment on the last PDL. All are paid off, and now officially done with this terrible nightmare.

I got a phone call about a month ago from a lady named Ms. Meeks at the Bam Group stating that I owed money for a past due PDL. I made a payment that month and set a payment up for this month. I was not able to make that payment because of financial issues. She called me two days ago and proceeded to tell me that because the payment was rejected and they had my recorded statement that I would make the payment this month they were sending someone to my job to serve me. She was very rude and hung up on me twice while I was trying to see if there were any other options avaliable for me.

Hello Lakota Cash called today and said they sent a wage garnishment to my employer. What can I do about this? I live in PA. I borrowed 250 and paid back 250. They say I owe 455. Thank you

I have about $45,000 in credit card debt. Im struggling real hard to pay about $900 in monthly payments.

I have $20K in credit card debt between two cards. I am not now, nor have I ever been behind on the payments so my credit rating is still very good. However, I pretty much pay the minimum amount due on both cards each month and am getting no where. I'd really like to be out from underneath that debt because I have other debts I'm also paying (IRS and a personal loan from my father). Is the only time to do debt consolidation or settlement when you have become behind on payments or is there a reason to do it before that happens?
