if i want to pay with my credit card how do i know they will only take whats requested

Anyone have experience with a credit card company that went bankrupt and was taken over by the FDIC like Advanta recently was? Will the FDIC use Advanta's collectors to try to collect, 3rd party collectors, or sell the debt to junk debt buyers, or what?

I have out of college for 5 yrs. I am an upstate NY Native American with two children. In college a very important part of an assignment was withheld from me due to absences I had in coalition with a hospital stay. This withold of information prevented me from furthering in the program. Thus preventing me from continuing in college. Now 5 yrs later my tuition debt has been sent to collections. I argue that I had not voluntarily dropped out, nor was I administratively expelled, and since I was only allowed to complete half a semester, I should only have to pay half of the tuition.

I currently have a payment program with the IRS of 120 per month on a 8000 balance owe due to some gambling winnings. I became unemployed in Nov-2009 and now I feel that I will be owe about 3000 in taxes for 2009. What can I do since I am unemployed and the IRS wants more monies.

Why is DM MANAGEMENT/CBSD showing up on my credit report? It has an account number I don't recognize. Please remove this from my credit report immediately.

What do 'no provisions' mean

End of 2008 one of my biggest customers went BK. Business was already slow and got burned for huge amount of money, plus many customers were paying 90/120 days out. I got behind on all 5 credit cards. 3 were non secured, 2 are supposedly secured. Interest rates on 4 outta 5 was above 30%. One of my Citi cards with a 24k balance was $1200.00 monthly minimum. So needless to say i was in big trouble. Couldn't even afford my house payment. So as of now my credit report shows negatives on everything. I just recently started making my house payments again. Tonight i got served from Citi.

I was in the Washington DC area from California on business and took an unannounced side trip to Rockville, Md to visit the company that is handling my debt settlement, Freestar Financial. I wanted to see first hand what the operation was like and to meet the people I had trusted my financial future with. The office is located in a first class building and is very professional looking. I asked the receptionist if I could meet with and speak to a manger. She called and a few minutes later I was taking a tour of the office and then sat down with Steve Abelman, VP of Freestar.
