What do you think of the iPad?

15 years 11 months ago
Hey all, I'm currently doing research about the general opinion of the iPad. What do you think about it? It seems like not everyone is thrilled about the iPad. They say the iPad has been hyped too much by Apple and it's not nearly as revolutionary as they make us believe it to be. On the other hand there people can't wait to get their hands on it. What do you think about the iPad and it's features?

Can Social Security be Garnished for repayment of Student Loans

15 years 11 months ago
My husband cosigned for our son's student loan. :( He picked at the repayments and kept getting forbearance until they couldn't do it anymore. We tried to pick up the slack but it was to far delinquent. It was charged off with no warning and we were called today and threatened with a suit. My son is indigent and my husband is on Social Security and VA disability. Our big question is should we be terrified that they will garnish his Social Security or what can he expect. Our credit score has already been ruined and this charge-off can't hurt much more than where we are at now.

So, I have been told mann Bracken no longer exists - I am to be in court Tuesday -Dell the creditor but I answered a civil summons to Mann Bracken. Court person told me she did not know who would show up for MB, no attorney was listed, just Dell. So, will they get a judgement against me for $2500? I am confused - I have to be here , they may not - never been through such crap before

Loan Officer on FICO & Settlement

15 years 11 months ago
I had lunch with a friend of mine who is a mortgage loan officer today. We were talking in generic terms about how difficult it is becoming to get a mortgage blah blah blah. I asked her if she had seen credit reports with settlements and if they were different from credit reports with bankruptcies score wise after like 2 years. She said that the credit reports of people with settlements pretty much recovered in about 2 years or less as long as they had at least two tradelines without lates for that period.

Original Creditor's Liability under FDCPA

15 years 11 months ago
Medical Bill paid in full and on time to original creditor. Received followup statements indicating balance due; contacted medical provider and sent copy of canceled check proving account paid in full...on time...no outstanding balance. Subsequently, medical provider sent bill to collector. Two questions: 1. Is medical provider liable under FDCPA? Not reported to credit report, so no FCRA violation. 2. Is there a duty upon an original creditor and/or a third party collector to verify/validate a debt prior to initiating collection activities?

Calls at work from "Officer" John Williams

15 years 11 months ago
I know this is a scam but I still would like some advice or for someone to let me know I am on the right track. Last Thursday, out of the blue, I get a "blocked" phone number on my phone at work and call from a guy with an accent so thick I can barely understand him. Then he asks for me by name. Then it started. First he said he wanted the name and number of my attorney. I said why would I have an attorney? Then he says I am being investigated for fraud for a check I wrote for a PDL that I took out in April 2009.
