I received a phone call from an Alan O'Conor of Carlsmith Ball in LA, CA representing Cash Advance. He said that my case has been disputed, and that he needs my attorny info. If I don't cooperate, he will be sending documents to my town for litigation. He said that I needed to have at least $250 by this Friday to settle the $530 amount. I know that payday loans are illegal in Massachusetts, and I am willing to pay off the original debt of $250. I told him that the debt could be paid in February, but he would not accept. Any advice out there?

I wanted to post this for others to know that if you are sued by a collector for a Providian, compucredit or Emerge VISA or MASTERCARD, make sure you request documents. If they provide you with a credit card agreement look over it thoroughly. You will see that it might say it is governed by federal law and the laws of New Hampshire only. Use that as your defense in a lawsuit, the SOL is 3 years in NH and must go by that, your states SOL would not apply because it does not allow your states laws to govern it.

I'm looking to clean up my credit. Rec'd a ltr from RJM Acquistions offering settlements on three accts. They are small amts ranging from 78.00-168.00 all from book clubs. It's close to 6 yrs old. They are even offering payment arrangements/settlements. Should I just pay them off either in full or settle? Will this help my credit scores? I also have another collection agency, Jefferson Captital Card Services, LLC. offering me a credit card in order to transfer a debt w Chase Bank (1,500.00) that was bought off by Midland Credit Management, Inc.

hello all, i hung up on this guy before i could get the name of the collection agency but he claims to be calling on behalf of vc lending i told him to not contact me at work. he can only contact by mail. luckily i save my emails from them (the payday loan company) and i will be submitting my complaint today. but my question is has anyone ever deal with a collection agency for that particular pdl company before???

I reside in the great state of Texas. I have been on the PDL rollercoaster for over a year now. I can't take it any more and need help getting out. Obviously I want to pay it back or I would have stopped before now.

Does anyone know if a collection agency can take my retirement money? I know they would have to get a judgement to be able to do this, but would a judge allow such behavior? Just wondering if anyone has experienced this happening to them. Thanks.

I am hoping someone can help me here. I had a Bally Total Fitness account I stopped paying. I settled on a $1478.35 default for $500.00 with some company called SEARAY PORTFOLIO MANAGERS, located in Buffalo, NY. This was back in September. I just received a letter in the mail from NATIONAL CREDIT ADJUSTERS, located in Hutchinson, KS. It states that I now owe them $1478.35. The only proof I have that I paid the $500.00 is my bank statement.

how do i change my username?

I revoked my wage assignment with IPS/1000Cashovernight. They have been a horrible pain, and change the amount I owe daily. The most recent email I have though, from a manager, states $225, CLEARLY. They still put the wage assignment through and no one bothered to tell me so my paycheck today is missing $217. I was told by the payroll dept IPS requested $475. I am having a hell of a time getting this stopped. How CAN I stop this? They say they can only stop if if IPS/1000Cashovernight stops it, which Im sure they wont. But they are CLEARLY taking more than what their emails show I owe.
