To make a long story short- I'm an idiot. When I was 18 I used a card, stupidly thought someone else was reliable for the debt I generated to cover their ass, and now I have a lawyer-debt collector on my tail. He sued me for $3500 + interest (The card limit was 2K, I never exceeded 1000). I wasn't sent a summons or any type of paperwork to notify me I was being sued. It just so happened I searched my name to pay off a speeding ticket, and saw my name listed under a civil suit.

Hi All: I have a question. I bought a car back in 2008 and had a cosigner. Well, life happened and I lost my job and as much as I tried not to, I had to file bankruptchy Chap.7. Well, the car has been discharged/acct. closed on my credit report. I just got back in the workforce and have been making payments to try and catch up. They never call or anything, I am the one making effort to pay. Would they come take the car if I don't pay? Just some advice. Thanks

I currently have a debt with Sears. The account has been charged off and I have been paying to a collection agency since 2007 with an arrangement. The other day I received a call from a different collection agency regarding the same debt. I explained that I already had arrangements with a different agency. They claim that they now have the account. I confirmed this with PRS, which was the agency that I was paying to. I called back Centrel to set up an arrangement with them.

Is it a good idea to wait a long time before settling an account? My creditor has declined my settlement proposal because my account is in good standing. But I can no longer make payments to the account and would likely default. I was wondering how the lender would possibly benefit if I default on the debt. What are my options to make the creditor agree to my settlement request?

I sent a validation letter last May of 2009 for a debt to Macy's that was in collections. The first collection agency, did not respond to the letter that I sent CMRRR. Macy's the original creditor mailed a letter 35 days after the collection agency received my debt validation letter stating that I owed the debt and that the first of several collection agencies would be contacting me but the letter did not show any proof I owed the debt. I checked my credit report and the first collection agency had not reported the collection it to my credit report.
