Need Some Advice

16 years 6 months ago
Hello, I am in a pinch, obviously, wouldn't be here if I wasn't. When I was in undergrad school, I had a credit card with Citibank. The limit on it was $2500. I maxed it out in Canada on a trip, missed a few payments, and slid down the slippery slope. This was in 2004. I moved a million times since then, and I recently got caught up with this debt in the form of a letter ("Pre-Legal Notification) offering a deal to avoid the account going to an attorney. I would love to pay this off, but I won't lie, it's going to take me a little while--maybe a year.

I spoke to a mgr at eds about a refund since they sent me a letter stating they are no longer in the settlement business, they refused, stating they are just transferring accounts to the johnson law group.they have been rather insistent that i sign the papers and transfer. I do not wish to do so. I am filing complaints with the ftc and ag. Any chance i will see my money?

Question regarding purchases before bankruptcy

16 years 6 months ago
So, my husband and I are considering filing bankruptcy. Our car was recently repossessed and sold off, we're behind on rent, and we both owe various people money- only 1 credit card, but we also owe cell phone company, gym membership is saying we owe them (I paid for the months I used, but they are suing for full amount), and I'm about to be sued for a debt relating to school (it's not a student loan, but another school debt). I read something online about not being able to file if you have purchased "luxury goods" in the past 90 days.

Advice on Buying A House While in Chapter 13

16 years 6 months ago
I am currently in a Chapter 13. I have a couple of credit cards. When I make payments timely and keep the balance less than half of the credit limit, will that improve my credit score? I would like to qualify for a home within the next 12 - 18 months.

How does it affect your credit score when entries are dropped due to the passage of time? Does it improve the score, and if so, how long does it take. Thanks.

Has anyone purchased material from this company? deleted. If so, how would you rate the materials? Would you recommend them. It is owned by a Kenneth Gibert. That name shows up as a lawyer who was disbarred in Missouri in 2009 but I am not sure if it is the same person. (http://www .courts.mo.gov/page.jsp?id=32846) Thanks for your help! i removed the link because this person is disbarred.can't have others going there. paulmergel.

Just stopped in to say Hi

I wanted to stop in and say Hi to everyone :) I know I haven't been here in ages. Some of you may remember that my daughter is pregnant. Well she was having problems and almost lost the baby. But all is well now and she will find out the begining of Dec. if it's a boy or girl. She thinks it's gonna be a girl. I hope so, I also hope if it is, that she has the same attitude as my daughter lol. Then my daughter will know what I went through ;) Anyway, we had the wonderful swine flu go through our house. It sucked big time. My son brought it home from school.
