I received a Sheriff's notice on my door over the weekend regarding a "Civil Process", and when I called the Sheriff's office to find out what this was about, they said that basically they are serving me papers from NorthStar Collection Agency, but that was all the information they had. I having trouble trying to figure out (before I get my "papers" tomorrow from the Sheriff) how I can contact Northstar. I looked on my credit report, but I dont see any account by Northstar. Any ideas on what I can/should do? Im pretty freaked out here, ive never been sued before!

Loan Shop Online sent me an email telling me that they are in the process of "verifying" my file due to non payment. I've sent them the letters as suggested. What exactly does this mean? Should I be worried? Thanks.

I received a debt settlement letter from LTD Financial by email. They offered fax but I don't have a machine. The letter is a scanned image and looks legitimate with an authorized signature. My question is this valid and enough or do I have to get the real paper by mail? thank you

o.k my friend has been a victim of identity theft and fraud. however his story i believe happens but is rare. you see he is 46yrs old and he cant read in any form or fashion,and this is not on and this is not on any legal document.{his best and worst kept secret}. he got married to awoman who of course found it out. he being her husband and she his wife and mother his two kids gave her accsess to his bank account and she took him and his disability and use it to her advantage.

Recently, a collection agency sent someone to my parents' door with what they said was a court summons. They told my father all about my debt problems, including the amount I owe them. They left no paper work with my family and told my father not to worry about it, "they send out these summons all the time, it's no big deal." I checked at the Will County, IL courthouse website and it appears I do in fact have a court date scheduled ten days from now. What should I do? I never officially received a summons.

I am a new member to the forum. I've been reading and using information from this sight since about mid July this year, but just decided that I'd like to be a member in this forum. I reside in KY and am working through paying off my principle balances. Unfortunately I've been in the cycle of using PDL's for about 3 years prior to this and I've always been what would be described as an excellent customer always paid all fees and on time. Recently this endless cycle has caught up with me and created a hardship for me. Same stories as several other people here, it sounds like. My question.

I have a question about Advance America's line of credit. I have an account with them and I am using what they give me, but here for some reason they are now saying that all money is due and I don't know what is going on. Going to call them tomorrow and find out. Anyway my question is I had to use my car title as collateral. It's not my main car, it's really a junk car as it don't run. If I don't pay I know the repossess the car. What happens then? Do I still owe them money? What's the deal and how does it work.

Does anyone have the physical mailing address for Think Cash? They haven't responded to my email messages to set up a payment arrangement, but I want to start making payments to them. Is it okay to send what I have available right now even if not on a payment plan. Does anyone know if money orders through the USPS are tracable, if needed?
