If there's any way anyone can move quickly to answer this, it would be much appreciated as I have a limited time to respond to the complaint I received. Also, I live in Ohio. I am being sued for an old credit card debt that occurred in 2006. I was a very not-so-good person back then and was using drugs. I have been clean for almost 3 years now. I made some really stupid decisions and I understand they have consequences, and as such I am not disputing the debt itself. It is mine.

So in 2010 all payday loan companies will be out of AZ, But I was thinking won't they just call themselves something else instead and still have the same practices? For states in which PDLs are illegal, are there any other sort of high-risk loans that people get instead like lines of credit or something?

I learned about this website on April 17th. I have been working on resolving several internet payday loans. I have received several paid in full letters and just received my second refund in the amount of $663 today! Woohoo! I just want to share this story because if you use persistence and patience, you can get these taken care of and once in awhile, you may even get some of your money back :) Good luck all!

The FTC is going to adopt a rule similar in kind to the Credit Repair Organization Act. No upfront fees, disclosures, etc. Debt settlement as we know it will be dead soon.

I have about 20k on a business card with Capital One. 2 mo. ago they doubled the interest rate...not due to late payments. They informed me that a (one) letter was sent out that notified of the rate increase and if you did not accept it they would freeze your current rate and cancel the card. I let them know I did not receive the letter and would like to cancel and keep my old interest rate...they refused. I have not paid it since. I read the post (most current I found 3/08) on the debt settlement for this company and they seem to sue right away.

Hey All, I am just starting this process and appreciating all of the advice given to me as well as the advice I have read through other's posts. I closed my bank accounts yesterday and have the bank's branch manager returning some ACH's that went through last night and blocking any future withdrawals from re-opening my account. That being said, I read the Sticky about reaching the ACH Processors directly. Either my attention span is that of an ant or the Sticky jumps all over the place and is hard to follow.

Was just wondering if they are good or should I stay away from them for debt consolidation? Thanks for the help.

HI I have been getting numerous calls from this company at home then on my cell phone which I know they have ways of getting it. However, I told the one rep for collect corp when he was fishing for my persnal information that I do no give that over the phone. I was almost surprised that they found me when my phone rang at my desk( I nevet give out my company phone number). The other issue was the rep from collect corp calledc me at work then threatened me to transfer her to my HR.
