A creditor has apparently filed a suit against me and is attempting to serve me papers via certified mail. I had a slip in my mailbox from the mailman saying their is a package from the courthouse I need to come in and pick up and sign for. I am trying to delay this as long as possible so that I can try to get some funds together to work out a settlement. I have not been officially served until I acutally go in and sign for that package, correct? If the mailman brings it by my house again and I happen to be home, can I refuse delivery?

I sent a dv letter to a collection agency. I got no response, and then yesterday , I got a letter from the collection agency telling me that they closed the file and were sending the claim back to the original creditor. What does that mean ?

I can not keep this up anymore. Its a never ending cycle that has ruined my life. I am going to let all my loans default and they can sue me or whatever! I closed my account at the bank. And I am changing all my phone numbers! I have paid and paid and paid, and it never ends. I Called and requested EPPs and none would accept. Well of course not why in hell would they want to help people get out of the mess? I figured my loses. I own nothing and I work for myself. They cant debit my account anymore, because I closed it. They cant garnish my wages.

I heard that they help with outstanding pdl's and I was wondering if anyone can fwd me their number and/or website. Thanks

If someone gets a CCJ against you deliberately using a wrong address until enforcement so you have no chance to defend the action, can criminal charges be brought against them?

Hello, In the beginning stages of debt settlement myself and have a question. When it comes to settling a debt, does how long you've had the account and paid on it have any bearing on how hard or easy it is to settle? I mean I have a hsbc that's about 7 yrs old and a chase that's a year and a half, does either timeline on the card help or hinder the settlement or is it basically just the company?
