Trying to do Better

16 years 10 months ago
I could really use some help. I had 2 CO's that were turned over to collections. For stupid reasons I won't go into, the CA's obtained judgments. Both have been paid as of December 2008. I am finally getting my head out of the sand and dealing with the credit mess I made. Is there anyway to get these items off of my credit report? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

bottom feeders

16 years 10 months ago
I was over at a website recommeded by several people on these forums and read about how bottom feeders by bad debt from credit card companies, for example and then try to collect on them. So here is my question, if let's say I defaulted on my capital one credit card and they sold it too a bottom feeder type of collection agency such as Leading Edge. Since Capital one sold it to them, wouldn't they have a legal right to collect on the debt? I guess I don't understand how they would have my capital one info and not be authorized to collect on the bedt.

National Arbitration Forum on The Ropes!

According to five million dots dot com, there is a Congressional Hearing scheduled or Wednesday, July 22nd, on Arbitration. Also check out the article if you haven't already, about the NAF ceasing its collections on July 24th of this month. I'll go back and read more about it, but if the NAF comes to a halt, that means that various debt collectors will also not be making any money...but will actually be loosing it. Most debt collectors are not willing to go to the expense of lengthy drawn out court actions, especially if they are using methods that are not always legal.
