I read a bit on here about Woodforest checks not being taken by local businesses? Can anyone expand on this? Is there really a huge stigma for Woodforest account holders. I am looking for an apartment, and I would rather not write a check if it's going to cause me to get a cold reaction from a potential landlord...

1-866-950-7909 These people have called 7 times today, and have been calling daily for several weeks. I answered once, and got a dead phone. After that I used my phone to block their calls. Back in the days that husband I lost jobs, and it took 2 - 3 years to find another one, we became arrears in a few credit cards. We have been dealing with them, one at a time. However, several of them are now beyond the statute of limitations, and we are receiving letters in the mail reducing the amount due.

I called to discuss some things about closing my account or doing a hard debit lock and they are telling me that if I previously authorized these ACH debits then they could come through and be charged to my account. I bank with Bancorp South and I am not getting the best of help. They also said theat I do not have the right to revoke these ACH debits since i previously authorized them. I thought I remember reading on one of the posts that by law I can revoke ACH transactions....PLEASE HELP. I don't want to close my account and then be in bigger trouble.

If an OC charged off a credit card then deletes the account from your credit report and then states in a letter you owe them nothing, is a CA still have the right to attempt to collect if the OC states you owe them nothing and it was sold.

I was reading that a debt consolidation program can help me pay off debt within a period of 4-6 years...does this mean I cant pay it off before due to a contract? Or could i pay it off before without penalty? Also, what are the fees for this program?

I am posting this as a friendly suggestion to anyone who feels that they need to borrow from magnum Cash Advance. They are an ILLEGAL off-shore company with headquarters in the British Virgin Islands but have a call center in Delaware. They claim they are smarter than a payday loan but they are NOT!! tHE INTEREST IS VERY HIGH and they want you to believe that the laws of the British Virgin Islands rule when the laws of your state prevail. Don't fall for the trap that I fell for. There are LEGAL ones out there. I would advise those in a heartbeat over these off-shore lenders. Thanks.

Three weeks ago a man wearing a badge knocked on my door and handed me a summons. Im being sued by "FIA Card Services, NA FKA MBNA America BAnk NA" for $2500 of credit card debt. There was a paper attached to the summons from something called National Arbitration Forum (which i later found out is a company owned by one of the creditor's attorneys) stating that they "arbitrated" and awarded this amount to FIA Card Services.

Okay I am not sure what to do here. I have been working with Oak View Law firm since 12/08 and am hoping to have all of my debt settled in the next 10 months, but today I received a Wage Deduction Notice from a firm that I already settled and paid. I owed Orchard/Household Bank probably 350 at the time I stopped paying. I then entered the contract with Oak View Law and not long after I received a summons and Complaint from this Blatt law firm for Household bank. Well Oak view finally settled the account for 708 that I could pay in two installments of 354.

Just recieved a call from the following number: 1-800-771-5361 Waking me up from a nap before work tonight. Have gotten calls before, at all hours of MY night. Unknown as to who/what, since the caller knowingly and willingly failed to leave a message. What I find interesting though, is I have reported to both my local and national Do Not Call lists. After which, I have NOT gotten phone calls from the above number for at least 3 weeks to a month! And again, I have reported to both No Call lists. Anyway, if anyone has any information, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.
