Everyone - It's been quite some time since I posted here. The last time I posted, I was having problems with online payday loans. The advice I got here was to close my bank account, open a new account, check if the payday lenders were licensed in my state, and send various letters to the payday lenders. Best advice I ever got in such matters. I followed all the steps. It *absolutely* worked! I've had no issues with payday lenders for almost 3 years (since Sept. 2006).

I may have glazed over this when reading about the Statutes of Limitation on Debt, but I would like to know if I'm correct in thinking that the effective S.O.L. is based on where the debt was accrued, and not where the collection agency is based. I received a letter from MEDICREDIT INC last week informing me of a debt I (supposedly) owe being added to their files. They are based in St. Louis, MO (Missouri). The company (a medical imaging company) with which this supposed debt was initially entered is based in NY.

I've been trying to keep up with my debt for the past few years, but can't do it anymore. We had to move crosscountry for work and couldn't sell our home, so we now pay both a 1750 mortgage and 2500 in rent. We have 60k in credit card debt (averages to 16% interest) and pay 1050/month for cars/insurance.

Ihad had gotten pdls, years ago filed 13 paid most off. However I developed a serious gambling problem and tried to get a loan not really believing I could at that point yet I was given a loan. In a months time I am totally overhelmed with pdl's:I am livid with myself I have closed my bank acct. I would like to list my acct. So that I can get help couldn't get in any other way to this site I tried my debt is about 2500 to 3000.00 can I get any replies from members as to my next step Ihave sought help with ga. Can I hear from the members

I got an e-mail back from Magnum Cash Advance stating that they have seen my posts on this website and have approved a settlement offer of the principal only to be paid within 30 days..even though they do not agree with any of the points I made in my e-mail where I stated that they were ILLEGAL to lend. Interesting how they read these sites themselves. The e-mail went on to say that Call Center Services will hang onto this for 30 days and if no payment is received in 30 days..then it will be forwarded to a national collection agency.

I paid off Forster and Garbus..They have not entered Satisfaction Of judgement with my county Clerk office...What are the laws about this in New York?..PLEASE HELP!

How do I clear up a judgement that is shwing on our credit report? The judgement was included in our bankruptcy and was paid through that process. Also, a creditor chose to write off the balance we owed instead of filing a claim during the bankruptcy. They are still reporting the write off as a bad debt on a monthly basis and it's been more than 2 years. Can they keep doing this? If so, for how long? They should have filed the papers with the court and they would have been paid too. Any help or direction is appreicated.

Hello All, I have acquired the following cc debt and had it for 2 years. Bank of America - 50,000 Citi Home - 5,500 Citi Business - 20,000 Chase - 7,200 Amex - 26,300 Discover - 8,500 So far I have been late for 90days on the minimum payments. for the First time I have initiated contacts with the bank and sent letters to them that I am unable to pay. I have also told them that I am borrowing money from friends and family to settle the debts.

Does the FCRA; mainly the phrase "account disputed by consumer" on my credit report apply to a OC using their in house collection department to collect a debt? If they have reported it to the credit agencies as a collection account. I again need case law or valid point of reference please.

My wife had a loan at Texas A&M and we defaulted. They sent it to Todd, Bremer & Lawson 800-849-6669. Anyone have any experiance? We are trying to get her transcripts and they said that we have to pay the balance before they will release it.
