complaint

16 years 10 months ago
I am very unhappy with my experience with New Day Financial. I received a notice in the mail that I was pre-approved for up to $375,000.00 for a home equity loan. I called only because it said home equity loan. When I called and gave them my information, they were real nice at first. They told me my credit was good. But when I told them I only wanted a home equity loan for $30,000.00 to consolidate my ebts I was told I did not qualify. But they said I qualify for a re-finance at 7.31% for $274,000.00. I already have 5.75% so I told them I didn't want to do it.

Palisades Collections has placed a collections account on my credit report. I now live in Alberta, Canada--what statue of limitations for the alleged debt applies? My province's? What US law applies to people have moved out of the country?

Sample Letter to Credit Bureau???

16 years 10 months ago
I first sent requests for debt validation to collection agencies that were on my credit report. 30+ days later, I sent those that have not verified the debt a follow-up letter. Should I also send a letter to the credit bureaus to request that they validate the debt? What is a good sample letter? Also, should I send the credit bureau one letter for all the collection accounts or should I do it individually? Thanks in advance!!!

Citi Question

16 years 10 months ago
I talked to Citi this morning, which is one of my favorite things to do at 6:30am... talk to my creditors. Anyway, they put me through the normal schtict. Then at the end I asked if they were going to respond to the my offer to settle, as I've mad many previous attempts, but they NEVER respond. And every time I call them, they tell me a decision is pending and to call back another time. Then the billing cycle turns, and I have to resubmit the offer. It's pretty annoying actually. Anyway, this time she says she can re-submit the offer and they'll respond within 5 business days.

I need an answer NOW!!! PLEASE!!!

If I disputed a debt for the amount a collection agency is saying I owe and they do not validate the debt for 6 months. I then file suit against them and they sent me a letter stating I made payments on the account and they are not required to validate a debt. But the letter they sent does have a different amount owed (its less) then what they have been attempting to collect (still more than what I think I owe) is this FDCPA violation.

Debt Settlement on YOUR OWN...... HOW???!?

16 years 10 months ago
Hey all, I decided to clear my debt on my own. Instead of using any of the debt settlement/consolidation companies that are never trustworthy, I would like to contact the banks directly myself and settle... Now, how do I do this? From what I heard... I have to be late on my payments for about 3 months in order to settle with them. what if they choose not to do this and transfer me to some collection agency before any settlement happens?? Is it possible to send out a settlement letter BEFORE payments are late? Any advice useful. thanks,

collection calls

16 years 10 months ago
I work in the HR dept for a small company in Indiana. The switchboard operator keeps getting calls from a c/a for an employee of ours. She has told this c/a that he has been given the message to call them and he needs to be called at home not here (work) and please do not call back. The most recent calls have been sent to me and I have also told them to stop calling to which they ignore the request. These twerps have called 8 times in the past 4 days and its getting to the point I want to cuss them out. So, what should we do?

Anyone used Oakview Law Group for debt settlement?

16 years 10 months ago
I talked to some people at Oakview yesterday and they said that they could reduce my $95000 debt down to $45000 by negotiating. They did not explain anything more than just "negotiating". They will charge 10% of success, and enrollment fee which is around 1000. I would be "Debt free!" in 48 months of paying $1500 a month. Are they reliable? Has anyone used these guys?? BTW, if you're an employee at Oakview, or an employee disguised as a borrower to give good ratings... pleases stay out of this.
