Is there any way to get a default judgement off my credit report? A debt collector sued me and being stupid I did not show up in court thinking that this would all just go away. The debt was past the SOL but at the time I didn't know any of this information because I basically just buried my head in the sand. Now I have found this site and others that have made me really smart about debt collectors but it just came a little to late. Is there any way to get another hearing or can I dispute this judgement somehow?

I have a trial date this Monday for a debt collection case for credit card debt. I am looking for any stories where the defendant actually wonor the case was dismissed in court and reasons why.

I have a student loan through ACS and I have had a frobearance for as long as they will allow and I can't pay them the $200.00 that I owe monthly. Until I get out of some financial problems my $ is gone before payday? I have to call them I am about to be 30 days late and want to work something out--will they help? THanks!

i just read in another post, that sallie mae does not do any consolidation loans on fed stafford loans anymore as march 2009? is this true?? can staffords be consolidated anymore?

I live in Connecticut and in March I closed my checking account and sent out the letters to all my payday loan providers. I kept receiving phone calls from Payday Loan Yes and Fast Cash Advance, both the same company. I had loans with both and overpaid them as well. I kept sending the letter to both of them and I received the following email thins morning: Kellie Conway: We are licensed through federal the federal government. Federal law takes over your state laws. If we were not allowed to give out at loan to the state of CT we would not.

I have recently found two items on my credit report that I want to take care of but I am not having any luck in gaining contact information despite Google searches 1- An old account from SW Bell /ATT which according to ATT was sold off to Capital One collection. When I call the number given (888-298-2919) I get a message "that the program about which I am calling has been discontinued and to write to..." 2- an account listed to "CONSUMER COLLECTION MN" I can not find anything on this and need contact info

Hello, Yesterday I recieved a collection notice from Howard Schiff. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this and if they sue? Its just a basic collection notice and is not a court summons. It was sent certified or even signed by anyone. Its just your basic collection notice. Normally this wouldnt freak me out so much, but since it says its from "Law Offices" it scared me. Does anyone know anything about this? Are they just another collection agency?
