First of id like to say thank God i found this site, i've learned a great amount from it. Here is my situation, I will include as much info as i can think of right now, if you need more info just let me know. Im just looking for some good info from you guys as you seem very experienced. Back in august i recieved a complaint and summons to respond from asset acceptance regarding a debt from citibank of 3500 dollars. I responded via certified mail asking for more information. I got the liitle green slip back showing that i had responded within thrity days.

I have four cc that I am in the process of doing debt settlement with. Three are with a debt settlement company and the other one I am trying to do myself. All of the cards are in my name only, but my husband is now concerned that they may try and take a motorcycle that is in his name only or garnish his wages. Can this be done or will they only come after me? Wouldn't they try to garnish my wages only. I am in California and am not sure what can be done.

If you have a judgement from 1995, do you still have to pay it since it does not show up on the credit report? Can you still negotiate the amount they say i owe?

Hello everyone. My debt problem came from opening a buisness. Instead of opening loans I figured the buisness would do well enough to payback my debt. That wasnt the case. Im know almost 100000 in debt and currently setteling with some creditors. Hopefull it will work out and life can go on.

Good Morning, What is a typical debt to income ratio or debt to credit ratio that would entice creditors such as Chase and US Bank to settle with? I want to do DYI debt settlement, however, I'm afraid given my salary that they won't budge. I make $68K and have 310K secured debt between mortgage, auto loan. The debt I want to settle is unsecured and totals at 40K. Also, I recently took a balance transfer out for 12K on my citi card.

Start by tell the phone rep that you will record the conversation if they start with the abusive phone tactics. This is something I learned working for a collection agency. They do not want to be recorded. Always pay what you can, even if it's five dollars.

my bf wanted me to ask a question regarding his situation. he is filing for bankruptcy, would u guys happen to know if it would affect getting an apartment?? or your rent?? would u be evicted if the apartment company found out ur filing for bankruptcy?? we got approved for an apartment, but he already filed for bankruptcy he just needs to gather up all his papers and informations etc. what would happen in the end if the apartment company found out he's on bankruptcy etc?? the apartment will be renting will be under his name.

I have an appearance in two days against Unifund. The judge told me each party has to submit a Declaration 15 days before the appearance. I have received nothing from the plaintiff. If they show, can I ask the judge for a dismissal? Thanks, Scott
