I saw in a post from a year or so ago that these people are not legally able to sue-is that correct? How can you tell which collections agencies are legally able to file judgment? This company has called my grandparents about once per day. I tried calling their number back, but I don't get anyone. Yesterday, I received a letter dated March 15th. I'm sending a dispute, even though I'm technically 2 days over-because I got it yesterday!!! Anyway, I have no idea what the debt is supposedly for. It's about 2.5 times what I've ever owed for anything!

I am single mother and need help desperately. I have 9 pdls and I would like help getting out of this cycle. This is my daughters senior year and with all the fees from the pdls I'm having a real hard time getting her what she needs for senior year and paying my other bills. I've thought about stopping my direct deposit at work, but need to know if that is a good idea and what to do after that. I live in Texas and am not sure if the companys are legal here or not. HELP! :(

I just wanted to see if anyone else had this experience. We have 3 CC with BofA. We were charging actively on all 3 accounts when we finally realized how far in debt we came. We immediately contacted the bank directly to see if we could lower rates/go on payment plan and they said they could not do anything for us. We contacted several credit counseling agencies (I took the advice of a member from this forum) and got in touch with Care One.

I am interested in getting a service that watches my credit for me. I would like to get the Fico scores but am finding that is like "add-on" for most of them. I am wondering what others have experienced with them and IF THEY ARE A GOOD choice. If so which ones would people recommend? or stay away from? Thanks for everything :)

Hi. I am just starting to climb out of the hole Ive been digging for a while now. I have been reading on this site for a while and am still confused about a few things. 1. 7 yr reporting time frame. How can I find the dates for when this process starts. ( like should i call up the CA and ask them? lol) Or when The CA THINK it starts. If I make a payment on a account that a CA is trying to collect on does that RESET the time? 2. If the original account has been sold etc. can I have the original account removed after 7yrs? so that the CA account would still be on there?

HELP! I am recieving a number of phone calls from First Source Advantage LLC on a debt of someone not related to me. They have also implied to my wife that I was previously marrid to this person which has caused some seriuos problems in my marriage for this is entirely untrue. I have asked for them to stop the harassing calls. What can I do.

I just consulted with an 88 year old man who was contacted by Debt Consultants from Texas. He is living on a fixed income of a little over $2200 per month with no wages. He is judgment proof and has no business: 1. Having a Chase Credit Card with $12,000 credit line at 22% 2. Having a BOA (FIA Card Services) with $10,000 credit line at 26%. 3.

First I want to say that I have been reading on this site for some time now, and am ready to start to work myself out of debt. I will get more into my situation in other post but my goal here is to take it from start to end through the forums here. I just consolidated one loan for 15k with Direct Loan -- and am in the process of consolidating another loan for 14th also with the DOE Direct Loan program. Before, they were taking my tax return -- will this end once the loans are consolidated and in good standing with the DOE? Would delaying filing my taxes allow me to receive the tax return for the unconsolidated loan too? Is there some exception I can petition for if not, to receive the tax return anyway? Thank you.

I rec'd a letter from a law firm offering their help in a suit being filed against me by McCullough Payne & Haan (who is working for Capital One). What??? I contacted the county court and a suit was indeed filed in Sept. 08 but is incomplete because they have not been able to serve me. The thing is, I need to dispute this b/c I'm SURE I don't owe them this amount, if any. Is it too late to dispute with credit bureaus and send the law office a DV letter before this goes any further with court?
