This question is in reference to state of Virginia. If we make roughly 20K more than the median income, is there anyway to qualify for Chapter 7 ? I am on the verge of losing my job due to chronic disease.

how to track old home phone services?

17 years 2 months ago
Is there a way to find out which utility company I had my old home phone through, and for what periods of time? I moved between MCI and I think AT&T and maybe one more, but they have all sold and re-sold I think. I always had the same phone number, it never changed. This was in Nevada from 2002-2004 specifically.

What payment method to use on settlements

17 years 2 months ago
I just received a faxed 40% settlement offer from BofA. Not the best offer but I will take it. I am breaking it up in three payments over three months. They are asking for my bank/routing info to pull the money from my account. I said no way. What is the safest method of payment for those settling? Is it wire, cashiers or standard check? Thanks Matt

Debt Collector Inquiries

17 years 2 months ago
Hi. I just checked on my TransUnion credit report and I found that Midland Credit Management (a debt collector) has recently checked on it too. They are listed in the Account Review Inquiries section. Is this legal for debt collectors to do random checks on my credit. Doesn't this affect my score when there are too many inquiries? Any information is greatly appreciated.

Can't Make My Payments

17 years 2 months ago
So, my wife and I are in debt for around $40000. Mostly due to being underemployed and moving expenses related to jobs that fell through. I now finally have a job that pays well, $45000 a year, but at this point, we are at a point where we can't make our minimum payments. I have created a detailed budget, but I am finding, even after pulling out all "un-necessaries", that we are still behind ~$65.00 a month. When I mean all un-necessaries I'm even referring to not being able to see a doctor or save anything.

being charged for a loan by a broker before i accepted the l

I filled out a form with YES LOAN Credit. I put forward all of my bank details. I heard no more from them but then realized they had taken out £69.50 for admin costs! When I phoned them they said they had set up a loan for me. But when I looked at the loan I refused it as it was charging a huge amount of interest and would be collected weekly for a year from my house. I DO NOT WANT THIS LOAN! But Yes loans will not refund me for the 'admin charge'

Debt was filed in small claims but court papers say it isn't being pro

Hello. About a year ago I saw a small claims notice from a creditor in the local paper. I was never served with papers regarding the debt and I saw a subsequent document in the county clerk files saying it was passed the time and not being prosecuted. Can they still serve me or could the original debtor sell the debt to another collector who will then take me to court?
