Hi - worked out a payment agreement with Chase over 5 years 2% int. Got a letter outlining terms and saying "if you will ever be late on a payment, call 24 hrs before and let us know". OK. Called to let them know and got transferred to a "hitman" who threatened me with immediate CA action. I said, "no use threatening, I can't pay it on time this month." I got nowhere with him. Any ideas on if they would have sent it to CA immediately or if they will still try to work it out? I am still willing just couldn't pay on the day agreed. Thanks.

Today I received a summons from Greene and Cooper representing American Express. It was served by a deputy on my county's clerk of court form. It demands judgement for $7935.02. However my Amex balance is 3392.60. I have been making payments via my online access to the Amex account. I have proof of all of this. The Amex website shows no payment due at this time. Additionally,when I received the letter from Greene and Cooper last September, I wrote them asking for verification. I never received anything else. Could I get some suggestions on how to answer this summons? Thank you.

They're back! It's been over a year now since my payday loan nightmare ended. Silly me for thinking I was in the clear! This morning, a Mr. John Edwards (with a distinctly foreign accent) called me at WORK! He said he was calling from a law firm regarding a criminal matter that would be filed in court tomorrow (on a saturday?) against me on behalf of an internet payday loan company. The name of his law firm? Crime Monitor Division! :lol: He wouldn't give me the address until I persisted (they're in CA, I'm in FL) and said his firm represented American Credit Services .

Can anyone help me with what the laws are regarding payday loans in PA? My husband received a threatening call from an agency collecting for Payday Services, threatening legal action and jail time. They claimed that they sent letters but they sent them to Harrisburg, VA and we live in Harrisburg,PA

Hi - got weird call from what must be a collection agency and it sounded like Angel & Cabreta (can't find with a web search). The number they gave was 800-731-7765 - when I called it the message said their "new" number is 800-712-5000. A Search of the 2nd number shows it to be a known "scam". Any chance their associated with Chase? Any ideas? Thanks.

Why do some creditors garnish wages and bank accounts and some do not? Is there any guidelines for this from the collectors angle? I have small debts with collectors making big threats and big debts I have not even heard from. I cannot make sense of their priorities.

Would like to see if anyone out there besides myself are being sued by this Attorney on behalf of Cap one.....They have changed their name to Cap One USA. Or another creditor, I'd like to know your experiences, I'm going to court in a few months over 1,195........making out like if it was billions.
