Just this week, some folks in Congress are discussing the possiblility of holding banks, and other lending institutions liable for the predatory lending fiasco. This even includes I believe some mortgage companies. If I am not mistaken, this in all probability means that some collection agencies and PayDay Lending Companies that are funded or bolstered by some banks and lending institutions, might have at least one leg of their business being cut off.

A medical bill I had a payment agreement for, and payments were made on time. My question is this, can they legally turn it over to a collections agency?

When Congress opens up hearings on these banks, mortgage companies, and other lenders, they will actually be looking for some of these bankers and lenders to do jail time!

There is an internet payday loan company called Fast Web Funding in Utah. Is it legal for them to make payday loans in the State of West Virginia?

I would like to know what type of protection do military personale have from debt collectors under the Soldiers and Sailors Relief Act? My son has recieved a letter from Mann, Bracken about an old Discover card acct. Acct was opened in 1999. Last payment was three or four years ago. SOL for the state of Ky. I believe is five yrs. for written contracts. He is in the service but not stationed here. Sent a debt validation letter about two weeks ago. Did not state that he was in the service. From what I have been reading, they are a NASTY, greedy bunch of people.

I was told that after 7 years a repo will come off your record. Is that the same with any other debt?

My husband received a summons with CACH as plaintiff through a county that we do not live in. We do not have any idea what this is for...there was a credit card debt that was charged off in 2000. Not sure if that is the one, but how should we respond

Bank of America sent my account to this collection agency NCO. NCO has been having me to submit $441 a month to clear up this account. They have had me to make up bogus check numbers so that they can pull money from the other account that I have. I was scammed by a bogus Sweepstakes check that was sent to me and I took it to Bank of America back in June, 2008. I ask to them to check and make sure the check was legit before depositing it into my account. Bank of America lied, released the funds to me then turned around and said the check wasn't any good.

I have a Citi Card reloving account showing on my credit report. Balance is 5427. Last payment is 06/2006. Should I contact them and try to re-establish payments and request that they re-report the account in good standing? Would they be open to this? Is it too old to worry about? They are reporting every month that it is in collections but I haven't heard anything from them for at least 1.5 years. What should I do if anything about this account?
