I am almost DEBT FREE!!!

17 years 2 months ago
I just received word from my settlement company that they have settled all but 2 of my accounts. Most of the accounts were settled for less than 45%. I am a lurker on this site but I have received invaluable information. I tried to settle my debts on my own but kept hitting roadblocks. Once I signed on with my company it was smooth sailing. Good Luck To All. Al

debt

when you fail payments on personal loan from the bank and the debt is passed to an outside collector who refuses payment by installments, he has advised he is going to take it to court to place a charge on the property, what does this mean

Settlement proceeds

17 years 2 months ago
I'm just starting to look at settlement and this site has been very helpful in learning. One big question I have is from reading on settlements, it seems like they have to be paid all at once or over a very short period of time. I'm looking at settlement as I can't even make the min. payments any longer. I could certainly save some money between now and whenever a settlement would be but I can't possibly come up with 50% or even 25% of the outstanding balance in the next 6 months. Am I missing something?

How to start self-settlement process

17 years 2 months ago
Hi, I am current on all payments, 60k credit card, 75k equity line, 220k mortgage, with 74k income family of 4. I racked up the debt for many reasons but one is that I always paid my min balance even if it meant I had to borrow more to get by. My interest rates on unsecured are up to 24 and 27 %. I am thinking of starting the scary process of settlement and begin not paying credit cards, but paying mortgage and equity. In 4 months, the not-paying will amount to maybe 6K.

Cash Advance Now

Hi-I just wanted everyone to be aware of this company. I was not aware that payday loans were prohibited in NC. I contacted the state attorney general's office and they stepped in and sent a cease and desist letter to them (they are out of Miami, Fla). Cash Advance Now turned me over to their collection agency, the Law Offices of Capital Collections Corp and a lunatic, claiming to be an attorney named Roger Alvarez called me 25 times at work and told me that he was going to get me fired. He faxed a phony arrest warrant to my employer, threatened me-it was incredible.

Seems they are pretty low so they can say the sent a letter my word against there and as I am the debtor well .. Thanks

consolidation vs. settlement

17 years 2 months ago
My credit card rates have crept up the last ten years and after the crash they stuck me with 24% plus. I have 60K in credit card debt (20 of which is in temporary low rate offer due to expire soon). I also have 220K in mortgage and 75K in home equity line. given house values now, I have no equity, no wealth, no assets, only debt and a 700plus credit score. I was pissed that the CC co wont lower my interest rate. I always paid on time all these years, basically borrowing more so that i can always make payments.
