How To Start-Settlement

17 years 2 months ago
Hello to all the people here in the forum. I read the details about debt settlement and I found that this is my solution to get out on my debt. I'm currently employed but my husband is out of work for 2 years already. He maxed out the SDI and withdrew his 401k to pay our monthly mortgage and car payments. While me on the other hand is shouldering the daily expenses, utilities, and credit card payment. My husband doesn't owe credit cards that much only me. I don't see any improvements that will happen in the near future, like husband finding a job.

BOA settlement

17 years 2 months ago
I have recently enrolled in a debt management plan, dmp. All of my creditors have accepted except for BOA. I cannot make the minimum payment and am thinking of trying to settle with them. Will the fact that I am current with my other creditor and that they are on a dmp affect my chances of getting a settlement with BOA? I owe 17K at 29% interest to them. Can this be done on my own or should I use a company to help settle this debt? Thank you for any help.

Several PDL Questions

Has anyone worked with a "debt" management company to get the legal PDL paid off. Do they work with debt management companies at all. There was a link somewhere that I saw that provides a list of licensed PDL companies for the state of Minnesota, but I can't find it again. Can anyone point me in the right direction. I have been getting mixed responses. If they are licensed in my stated but have violated Minnesota state laws, are my loans that illegal. For example, they can't loan over $300. 2 of the 3 have. They can't rollover, all of them have.

Are studen loans ever forgiven. I thought I remember if they were in repayment for a certain amount of years they were forgiven and the amount that is forgiven is considered income. Does any one have an information.

Question

I wrote before that I have 3 PDLs and in MN AAA - $350 Cityview - $300 Cash Central - $600.00 My bank is a small bank and I opened a new account. They are going to close my old account which I am glad for. Has anyone known if the Cease and Desist letters work. I am not allowed to get calls at work because of the nature of work I am in. If I send them this letter will they lay off the calling. They only have my extension. I am sure they know they can hit zero but the reception will work with me on this. Any other ideas to keep them from calling.

credit card debt...

Am several tens of thousands in debt to credit cards. Have been staying up on payments until this month,,,feb 09. Live in arizona and own home with approx. 125k equity. After talking with attorney last Nov regarding the situation, I concluded that my best bet was to hold out until july 2010 when I can go BK under Arizona law and retain my home. (150k equity). Am a stock market trader for the last 15 years and have lost almost all personal money in mkt downturn.

Will bofa lower my APR after I was laid off?

17 years 2 months ago
Hello, I was just laid off from my job. I currently have a BOFA credit card with a $950 balance at an apr of 29%. I want to ask them if they will lower the APR, but will telling them about my lay-off make it less/ more likely that they will lower it? Any help would be appreciated. Thank You
