i called them about a debt they said i had with compucredit which i never had a credit card with those ppl in the first place. they said they would take me to court and that he was going to raise my debt from 997 to 1800 cuz of court fees. can they do that? compucredit said to be a debt relief program and they ended up opening a credit card with my ssn. what can i do to dispute all of this?

I filed for Bankruptcy and my discharge was 1/09 . Cash Net USA was the information and no further calls receivd from them . They have been calling my parents home claiming they are a special investigator and have I received a supeona ? I stated no , but they were on my bankruptcy . Now they stated they -meaning Cash Net USA is filing criminal charges against me and my bankruptcy doesnt cover that . Are they able to do that . He stated he wasnt asking for any money and the call ended

I was served by a Service of Publication in the local newspaper. The last line of the Service of Publication said "The purpose of this action is to collect on a credit card." How much should I ask for in damages due to emotional and mental duress? Wow, I never knew such a place existed on the web! I've been putting off getting my debt under control until I was out of school... Well, the time has come, I'll be graduating in less than 2 yrs and I'm getting married next January, so now it's finally time to face my mistakes and get this taken care of! Here's my situation: I have 12 accounts in charge-off status, 2 are credit cards, the others are medical bills from 6 years ago. I don't even know where to start! Do I contact the people I originally owed the money to, or should I contact the collection agency? What's the best 1st step?

A collection agency somehow found my in-law's phone number. When I send the CA my cease and desist letter will this also stop the calls to my in-laws? Or do I have to specifically ask in the letter that they stop calling them? I don't want to give any more information than I need to in this letter. And I really don't need the added headache of my in-laws being involved in this.
