Now that I have my PDL's pretty much taken care of, I need to get started on debt settlement for all my other accounts. I want to do this on my own without the help of a debt settlement company. I'm sure you've been asked this a million times on the site, but where do I start. All my accounts are in collections - nothing legal yet. Any help would be appreciated.

i have been reading this site, and i am looking for some advice. i have 3 cc's that have balances i need to get rid of: amex(39k, 17.99, 815/mo), chase(10k, 14.99, 200/mo) and discover(4k, 13.99, 80/mo). the time has come where i only have about $600-$800 expendible cash for making the payments. i was hoping to call discover and settle, but after reading here, i guess one cannot settle unless the account is delinquent? what will likely be the outcome if i call the creditors myself and state my situation...will they say too bad, and then i have to deal with a third party anyways?

Long story. But as far as a judgment goes what do i have to pay? The judgment was for 760 which I am willing to pay but contacted the apartment complex which in turn gave me a 404 number to contact and when i finally did get a hold of a Mrs. Hill i was informed that I would have to pay 3230.00 plus the judgment as well as interest in the judgment starting from 2002? Oh yeah this was for an eviction from an apartment complex. What am i required to pay? Thanks in advance for any and all help.

I read at premiuminformation.org/credit/ that credit card compaines are raising their rates. :shock: How far will things go?

I had a improper judgement served on me for an repo auto from 1996. This judgement was served without my knowledge until I found out in 2007 when a hold was placed on my bank account I then found out the origin and the fact that it was incorrect I then put in a motion to remove the judgement and it was denied for some reason I dont know I am trying to purchase a home and I need some immediate resolve. What can I do?

I recently recieved a notice that I was being sued by the office of Howard Lee Schiff for a capital one cc that I admit I owe. My husband and I ran into a bit of financial difficulty last year when I had surgery and was out of work for some time. Anyway, last Wednesday I contacted this office to see if they would accept a payment plan that I could afford, which they did. So, this settles going to court. The lady I spoke to said that she would be sending me out some paperwork listing the payment agreement and I have to sign it and send it back with my first payment.

are they legal in Texas, and are they known for working out a plan, I closed my account to keep them out until I can pay them out myself.

Long story short - Had a Citibank acct. in my name only from 2007. Fell behind due to my husband having to change several jobs while in the construction business due to the economy. Couldn't keep up with all the late fees and interst adding up and just couldn't afford to pay on it. Both of us were laid off. He has found work at half his normal salary and am still unemployed since 8/2008. I am probably the first to blame for letting it get this far, but this is where it is now.

anyone have info on this co?
