Does anybody know when to send a Disclosure Statement to the plaintiff in a civil debt collection case? Do you send this before or after a pretrial conference?

Debt Consolidation Info

17 years 3 months ago
Hi, I am trying to find industry information about debt consolidation? Particularly things like, when did debt consolidation become a "business"? How much debt is really out there and needs to be (or is being) consolidated? Is there a typical demographic that uses such services? And which are the best/worst companies providing such service? I'm just trying to do some homework to help in a few decisions I need to make. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help answer some of these...

Should/can I consolidate?

17 years 3 months ago
I have 10 student loans through Edsouth Financial Services, 6 of which are Stafford, the rest of which are unsubsidized. When I spoke with Edsouth over the phone today, I asked them if they could simply group the two types of loans together into totals on my statement. They replied that they weren't currently offering an option to consolidate. I was merely asking as a matter of convenience, but apparently there can be other advantages to consolidating? My interest rates are 4.21% on the Stafford loans and 6.8% on the nonStafford. Currently I am under deferment for financial hardship.

1099-C issued for Cancellation of Debt

17 years 3 months ago
My Mother-in-Law just received a 1099-C form (Cancellation of Debt) Creditor: Asset Acceptance, LLC/Local Bank in Illinios. Problem is: 1099-C form does not have correct SS#, and was originally issued from a Bank that is long gone in our area, (bank dissipated its accounts way back in 2004/2005), also the account/loan # that was on form, does not match any check/savings/loan that my Mother-in-Law has ever held? The only thing that is correct is her current address! I'm just wondering what scam this company is up to, and what if anything can be done about it?

PDL Help...someone help again please!

17 years 3 months ago
Hey you all. You have helped me with getting my letters together and all. I'm from IL. I got them together although I did not have the money at the time to send them certified mail so I faxed them. Now they are still calling me. Should I send them certified? Whats my next step? I have 4 PDL. I have closed my bank account and reopened a new one as well as filed a complaint through the bank. I have all the paperwork filled out for the states attorneys office and will be sending it to them asap. Please let me know with any other suggestions. They are saying that they are 100% legit.

free website to file taxes?

17 years 3 months ago
I am looking for a way to file my taxes online this year, but I do not have home internet and I cannot load any software on my work computer. Any advice about if there are any websites that I can use that don't cost me anything, or not very much? I guess I could file on paper still, right? Just trying to save as much as possible, I don't think I need to use an accountant this year like I had to in the past when I had not filed on time.
