i just got my credit report and i am getting phone calls on a daily basis from nrc, the amt was not even on the report, they have a rude awakening when they find out the place already did a write off on the bill, i was so upset by this phone call, i could hardly sleep. my question is why call and bug me knowing full well they will not get a penny from me. they are one of those big fat guys you see sitting in starbucks with laptop in hand making rude phone calls to smart people like me who do pay there bills, so why waist the time ??????

My mother in law recently passed away. She has 7 children and she had alot of debt. Our attorney advised us not to file for probate and wash our hands of it. We were living with her at the time of her passing and still reside in her home. The mortgage company has contacted and is willing to let us to pay payments until we are able to get a loan. Is it that simple? I dont want to pay for something that we can never purchase.

I have been getting letters from these people for about a month now. They say I have written a check to someone I have never written one to. The account #s are different everytime as well as the amounts, but the name of the company the check was supposedly written to has never changed. I need some advice on how to handle this. I am can't call because it is a long distance phone number. If it is something I owe, I want to take care of it, but don't want to be scamed either. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi everyone, Has anyone dealt with National Recovery Services? They called and told me they are collecting on a past due PDL for Cash Banc. I live in Missouri. I borrowed $500 and they say I still owe $1015. I did pay the principal amt. They told me I have to pay or they will "assign my wages" and when I said that Cash Banc isn't legal in my state and that the Division of Finance told me I didn't need to pay them anymore, the person on the phone laughed and said that wasn't true...She then offered to settle my acct for 615. What should I do? Thanks.

Hello. Can anyone give me first hand information on the company named Debt Shield? (out of Maryland) They seem to be pretty good; they are members of TASC and USOBA and also won in 2007 the BBB of Maryland Torch award for marketplace ethics. I am just wondering of anyone has had dealings with them or an opinion. Thanks

I have figured out which of my loans are legal and which ones aren't .. all except for Payday yes and Goodtime cash. And this is definitely Payday Yes and not Payday-loan-yes. Does anyone know if either of these companies are legal? thanks

After alot of reading on this wonderful forum I've figured out how to settle with the illegal compaines by sending them an ACH revocation letter and telling them I want to settle for the principal amount only.. but my question is.. What is the best way to go about settling with the legal PDL companies? Do I send them letters too and tell them that I can no longer make the payments as scheduled and that I'm going into debt consolidation and ask for payment arrangements? Thanks

Just trying to clarify before I commit to attempting debt settlement. When determining insolvency, what does the IRS consider assets and liabilities? I am assuming liabilities are minimum payments and monthly expenses?
