I have read many postings about Palisades and how challenging they are to work with. They have placed a judgment on my credit report for a debt that I do not recall. Upon requesting a debt validation letter, I received a letter on their Englewood Cliffs, NJ letterhead indicating that they are "unable to locate the enclosed account...please contact our office." I called the indicated 1-800 number and was told to send a request for a debt validation letter to their counsel, Pressler & Pressler in Parsippany, NJ.

Does anyone know of a reputable, helpful credit counseling firm? You see so many advertised but you don't know who is reputable, honest and helpful; I need to get out of debt but don't know where to begin. DB

I wasn't able to locate the original thread but I posted within the last couple months about a letter from Mann Bracken saying they were going to send my account to arbitration and my post was a question about how to handle it. A member responded that I should send a DV letter, as well as letter denying participating in the arbitration and I did that. Now, I get another letter from MB saying that a Document Hearing will be scheduled within the next 30 days and if I have any supporting documents to send them to the National Arbitration Forum.

how do I take car of it. i sold it 3 to 4 yrs ago it showed up on my credit report.

Does anyone out there know their address? It's much appreciated if you do and could share....thanks

Morning, I recieved a notice of arbitration last week. It is asking for me to submit an answer with in 20 days? Can some one walk me through this process? Also should it go to court and a judgment is granted, what happens? I know in PA they can't garnish wages. Thanks

This site has a lot of great information. I didn't know the OC didn't fall under the fdcpa. So I'm trying to find the Ga state law to get the OC to stop calling my house and my mothers house. LockTight (ADT) off Pleasentdale Rd Suit B-202 Atlanta,Ga 30340 will proudly tell you that they are the OC and they do not fall under the FDCPA and will call you every single day! I spoke with them and told them I will make a payment sometime around the end of the month but don't know when. I explain to them that I had lost me job and just got hired back on.

Is there a form letter out there to send to PDLs to revoke authorization to debit my bank account? I have three loans outstanding currently that I would have had no problems working at paying off, but I was ill and missed a ton of work. Now I can't afford to pay what they want plus my regular bills. Anyway, form letter? Please say there is, I don't know what all information to include in it. Thanks!

If a company tries to collect on an old debt: !!!!!!!!!!!!DO NOT CALL THEM !!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you call them, the debt now becomes active and they can restore it as a new debt. They bought this debt from another company, and they want you to settle this debt with a single payment. Let's say you owed someone $5000.00. 10 maybe 15 years ago, this debt has been sold to so many other companies over the years and they have now bought this loan for $100.00. They send you a letter through the mail, or call you on the phone.

i am a victim of malicious intent and am on soc sec disability. can lawsuit force garnishment on benefits?
