Recieved a call yesterday. Now and then, we do recieve calls from bill collectors. This call was recorded. All that was said was the toll free no. My name is Mr. Brown, and that he was with the "Cato Corporation". It may not be a bill collector. If it is, I want to be prepared. There was no phone no. on Caller Id. It just said Uknown number. I did not write the toll free no. down either. It could have been someone doing a survey or something but it also could be a bill collector. They did not state however who they were trying to contact.

If I were to consolidate my credit cards along with my wifes would that wipe out the credit from each company. Basically would consolidating make it so I can not use the credit cards again? I do not rely on credit cards anymore but I have built up a lot of debt on 3 cards and my wife has one large credit card balance, around 8,000 and I have about 6 to 7,000 built up in debt over the 3 cards. I do not wan to ave to cancel the cards but am just wondering if I consolidate wold that remove the cards from being used every again, for emergencies.

Hi, I have no idea where to start on this forum but, I'm making a go at it. I'm listing my loans and just hoping someone has advise for me. As of right now, I'm about to tell my children that there's no Christmas for them - because of my stupid interest payments coming out on the 15th. So, please advise.

i went to university of phoenix and this company called and said about a pending legal action for a debt from university of phoenix in th amount 990.00 they aid if i do not pay this they wil get one or anthor i do not have one cent i explain to them that and they said you need to come up wih what do i do i can pay them?

I went to my states Department of Finanicial Institutions website (for Arizona) and from what I saw it appears that my two online loan companies are not licensed in my state. The companies are: Cashnet and Zip19 Can someone else take a look and tell me if you see (or don't see them there?) How do I proceed with these? Can I demand a refund of what I have paid if they are operating in AZ illegally? I know I have seen a sample letter somewhere on here to send to companies who are not licensed in your home state. Can you assit me in locating it?

My husband and I consolidated our student loans years ago... we have not begun repayment yet but have been in deferment or forbearance for various reasons. We will need to start paying soon but I was told that even on an "income sensitive repayment plan" our payment would have to be at least equivalent to the interest of $610 a month (regular payment would be $820 a month).

I have four storefront PDL's and two online PDL's... I live in Arizona. The storefront PDL contracts have a little box that you check indicating that you "have no other outstanding pay day loans".

we have an old debt with HSBC that i haven't been able to track down info on...first it was with penta group and today i got a reg. not certified letter from an Arthur b. adler saying they were doing collections for this. we do have an old HSBC so i don't think it's fake but the amount is off. i had intended to contact penta group and offer $1500, as the first time i talked with them on the phone they said they would take $3000 after saying debt was $6000 but told her i would need things in writing would not do anything over the phone...then got this letter...so do i send a DV letter?
