I had an account go into for collections in Colorado and now I live in Florida. Can the collector come after me in another state? It was from an apartment complex when I broke the lease it was Feb 2007 so went to collections April 2007. I moved to FL that feb. Can they legally come after my wages??

Does anyone know how to deal with a freeze that was put on my checking account by child Support Services for a month and US Bank would not let me make payments, add to my account now close the account. USB let several bills go thru and so it looks like it was overdrawn. USB charged me 1400.00 in fees and overdraft charges for the month and now they have sent it to a collection agency. Lisa

So I filed my answer to my summons.I want to file something to make the attorney now cough up some documents such as last payments and statements,they ignored my VD requests and so I got nothing.What do I file to do so? Do i go ahead and file now or wait until court date is set or what?

One of my friends pulled me aside yesterday and asked me what I knew about tax law... "Why," I asked. It seems his dad hasn't paid the IRS in about five years, and now they've started garnishing 75% of his paycheck. (Now he's only taking home $200/bi-week). Now I didn't think that was possible. I thought the Fed cap was 25%, and further restricted by our state cap of 15%. So I came home, googled, and found out the caps don't apply to Fed/State taxes.

I live in michigan and have recently been reading about the illegal payday loan lenders. I have pay day loans from the following: 500fastcash GFS ezcashmedia CMG Group does any one know if these are legal or illegal companies. I had 2 internet payday loans with both US Fast Cash and NorStar Cash. They told me on the phone at the time of approval that the repayment terms were $390 on a $300 loan. I've since paid a total of $480 in illegal renewal fees because the pirates were raiding my account to the tune of $90 per loan every 2 weeks, plus another payment of $140 each. As of November 20, 2008, I RECLAIMED MY FINANCES by doing this: 1. I did research by Googling: "payday loan scam" and read similar accounts from other victims and got some valuable information, including telephone numbers and addressess.

how do you settle on your own if your not behind on payments?

Are you safe from a court judgement against you if the sol for the credit card is over? I'm in the process of writing a DV for this debt... I just wanted to know how a judge would interpret that.....any thoughts on how i need to defend myself (if it got to that level) the sol in my state is 5 years and the 7 years is almost over (for credit report removal purposes) thanks!

I have decided I need to file chapter 7. I don't use my credit cards that much as they are all at or about at the limits anyway. The highest limit is $750. the others are about 300 and one for 500. I recently took out a cash advance of $60 on one of them and another for $60 on another one. Is this going to cause a problem when i go to file my bankruptcy? I havent even given my lawyer any money yet and dont plan on filing until the 20th of Dec. I got the advances out about a week ago or so. Thanks for any help.
