I'm about 14,000 in credit card debt. I pay on the cards but I don't really seam to get anywhere. I usually pay at least 40 over the min. payment. I'm thinking about doing some kind of debt consolidation program but I'm concerned if I even can because I'm not in default. I don't have great credit but its not bad. How much do those programs hurt your credit? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I haven't posted here in a while, but let me give you guys an update. I was way sunk into the pdl's, and have since closed my checking account, opened another before my other was closed and stop communicating at all with the illegal pdls. I still get emails from time to time, the ones that say..."hurry, act quickly, before we take the next action". The phone calls have stopped. The calls at work have stopped, which is a good thing. My only problem is actually getting out. I've now graduated to legal payday loans online, like cashcentral and payday one.

I just closed out my checking account the other day and the bank is completely aware of what I'm doing (talk about having to be humble...lol). I've read the Michigan Law however am confused a little by it, but here's where I'm at.
